Central (neighborhood), Minneapolis
The Central neighborhood (part of the larger Powderhorn community) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States is located south of the downtown region of the city. It is bounded by Lake Street on the north, Chicago Avenue on the east, 38th Street on the south, and Interstate 35W on the west. It should not be confused with the Central community, which covers Downtown and some surrounding neighborhoods. Central is split between two city council wards along Portland Avenue and 36th Street. The western portion is in Ward 8, while the eastern portion is in Ward 9. It also split between and legislative districts 62A and 62B. Developed mostly between 1900 and 1930, the Central neighborhood is racially diverse and has drawn African-American residents since the 1920s. Powderhorn Park is a neighborhood within the larger Powderhorn community of Minneapolis. The neighborhood is located approximately three miles south of downtown and is bordered by East Lake Street to the north, Cedar Avenue to the east, East 38th Street to the south, and Chicago Avenue to the west. Its namesake is the city's Powderhorn Park facility in the northwestern part of the neighborhood around Powderhorn Lake. Phillips West, Minneapolis
Phillips West is a neighborhood within the Phillips community in Minneapolis. Its boundaries are East 22nd Street to the north, Chicago Avenue to the east, East Lake Street to the south, and Interstate 35W to the west. It is entirely located within Minneapolis City Council Ward 6, represented by Jamal Osman. The Phillips community has only been subdivided into smaller neighborhoods within the last two decades; the boundaries of Phillips West were officially designated on April 29, 2005. Interstate 35W (Minnesota)
Interstate 35W (I-35W) is an Interstate Highway in the US state of Minnesota, passing through downtown Minneapolis. It is one of two through routes for I-35 through the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, the other being I-35E through downtown Saint Paul.
