The Central-West or Center-West Region of Brazil ( ) is composed of the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul; along with the Distrito Federal (Federal District), where Brazil's national capital, Brasília, is situated. The region comprises 18.86% of the national territory, and is the least populated in Brazil. With the move of the country's federal capital from Rio de Janeiro to Brasília in the 1960s, the construction of roads and railways to the interior of the country made access to the region easier, speeding up population growth and contributing significantly to the region's development. Mato Grosso do Sul was created in 1979, materializing the decision of the government to divide the then called state of Mato Grosso in two states to facilitate to administration and the development of the region. Campo Grande International Airport
Campo Grande International Airport , sometimes also informally referred to as Antônio João Airport, after the neighborhood where it is located, is the airport serving Campo Grande, Brazil. It is operated by AENA. Some of its facilities are shared with the Campo Grande Air Force Base of the Brazilian Air Force. History The airport started operating in the 1930s as a military airfield. In the 1950s, the airport began to operate with commercial flights. The passenger terminal was dedicated in 1964. Between 1975 and 2022 it was operated by Infraero. The passenger terminal was enlarged from 1,500m² to 5,000m² during the 1980s and to 6,082 m in 1998. The Cerrado () is a vast ecoregion of Tropics, tropical savanna in central Brazil, being present in the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Maranhão, Piauí, Bahia, Minas Gerais, São Paulo (state), São Paulo, Paraná (state), Paraná and the Federal District (Brazil), Federal District. A chapada () is a plateau found in the Brazilian Highlands. The chapadas, which are usually described as mountain ranges, are capped by horizontal strata of sandstone. They show the original surface, which has been worn away by the rivers, leaving here and there broad flat-topped ridges between river basins and narrower ranges of hills between river courses. The Federal University of Mato Grosso (, UFMT) is a public university in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Responsible for serving the entire state, its main campus is in the capital city of Cuiabá. Smaller campuses are located in Barra do Garças, Pontal do Araguaia, Sinop, and Várzea Grande, while the former campus at Rondonópolis is now the , split off in 2018. A total of 21,301 students were enrolled across all five campuses in 2019. The FISU World University Games, formerly the Universiade, is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The former name is a Blend word, portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". Federal University Of Goiás
The Federal University of Goiás (, UFG) is a publicly funded university located in the Brazilian state of Goiás, headed in Goiânia and with campuses in the municipalities of Catalão, City of Goiás, and Jataí. Founded on December 14, 1960, after the merger of previously existing colleges, UFG is the only federally funded institution of higher education in the state, the richest and most populous in the Central-West Region of Brazil. The activities of the university involves 28,899 students in 150 undergraduate courses.
