Celle–Wittingen Railway
The Celle–Wittingen railway is a line belonging to the East Hanoverian Railways (''Osthannoversche Eisenbahnen'' or ''OHE''). Because its western portion runs along the River Lachte, it is also known as the Lachte Valley Railway (''Lachtetalbahn''). History After a considerable effort by the Celle–Wittingen Light Railway Company, founded on 21 June 1902, to have a railway from Celle to Wittingen, they were finally able to build the line and begin operating it on 16 August 1904. From 1905 onwards the company also had an operating agreement with the Celle-Soltau, Celle-Munster Light Railway, Celle–Bergen Light Railway to use the section of track from Celle Nord–Celle Vorstadt. On 17 June 1909 a new track in Wittingen was taken into service that crossed over the tracks of the Brunswick–Uelzen railway, Gifhorn–Uelzen railway and ran into the station on the Wittingen-Oebisfelde Light Railway. Hanover–Hamburg Railway
The Hanover–Hamburg railway is one of the most important railway lines in Lower Saxony and Germany. It links the Lower Saxon state capital of Hanover with Hamburg, running through Celle, Uelzen and Lüneburg. History The main section of the route, the line from Celle to Harburg, was opened on 1 May 1847 by the Royal Hanoverian State Railways. It formed a junction with the so-called Kreuzbahn from Lehrte, then the most important railway hub in the Hanover region, to Celle. Wittingen () is a town in the district of Gifhorn, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is about northeast of Gifhorn, and southeast of Uelzen. Division of the town Wittingen consists of 27 districts: History The earliest identified record of Wittingen appears in a document dated 781 which defines the territorial borders of the Bishopric of Hildesheim. Diesdorf is a municipality (''Flecken'') in the district Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Altmärkische Light Railway
Alkett () was a major manufacturer of armored vehicles for the Wehrmacht during World War II. The main factory was located in Berlin-Borsigwalde on the Breitenbachstraße. As more sites were added, the name changed to Altmärkische Kettenwerke. The Wittingen-Oebisfelde Light Railway () was a railway company in Germany that operated passenger and goods trains on the 43 kilometre long Wittingen–Oebisfelde railway. History The Wittingen–Oebisfelde Light Railway opened its line from Wittingen to Brome on 15 September 1909 and, on 20 November of the same year, to the terminus at Oebisfelde Nord, the last section of which lay in the Prussian Province of Saxony (today Saxony-Anhalt). Celle-Soltau, Celle-Munster Light Railway
The Celle-Soltau, Celle-Munster Light Railway () was until 1908 a publicly owned company run by the district of Celle in North Germany and was originally named the Garßen–Bergen Light Railway (''Kleinbahn Garßen-Bergen''). It was the builder and operator of the Celle–Soltau railway and its branch line from Beckedorf to Munster. The initiative to build a railway to Bergen came from Celle district, who opened the first section from Garßen via Beckedorf to Bergen on 23 April 1902. The terminus had to be built at Garßen because no agreement could be reached with the town of Celle about the routing of the line within the town limits. Celle–Wittingen Light Railway
The Celle–Wittingen Light Railway () was founded on 21 June 1902 by the Prussian state, the town of Celle and 33 municipalities. On 15 August 1904 it opened the 51 km long, standard gauge line from Celle Stadt (Nord) via Beedenbostel and Hankensbüttel to Wittingen West (now the Celle–Wittingen railway). River Lachte
The Lachte is a right-hand tributary of the Aller in the Südheide Nature Park in the north German state of Lower Saxony. Course The Lachte river rises in the northern part of the district of Gifhorn southwest of Sprakensehl. It initially flows southwest, feeds at long row of fish ponds near the Auermühle Estate (''Gut Auermühle'') and is then joined from the left by the Kainbach stream and, beyond the town of Steinhorst (which has a water wheel in its coat of arms), the Jafelbach.
