Cedric Smith (statistician)
Cedric Austen Bardell Smith (5 February 1917 – 10 January 2002) was a British statistician and geneticist. Smith was born in Leicester. He was the younger son of John Bardell Smith (1876–1950), a mechanical engineer, and Ada (''née'' Horrocks; 1876–1969). He was educated at Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys until 1929, when the family moved to London. His education continued at Bec School, Tooting, for three years, then at University College School, London. In 1935, although having failed his Higher School Certificate, he was awarded an exhibition to Trinity College, Cambridge. He graduated in the Mathematical Tripos, with a First in Part II in 1937 and a Distinction in Part III in 1938. Following graduation he began postgraduate research, taking his PhD in 1942. Cedric Smith is an English Canadian actor and musician. He portrayed Alec King in the CBC television series ''Road to Avonlea'', and was the voice of Charles Xavier / Professor X (and other characters) in the '' X-Men: The Animated Series''. Music Born in Bournemouth, Hampshire (now Dorset), England, Smith moved to Canada when he was about 10 years old. In 1961, he dropped out of high school to become a full-time folk singer. He was a member of the folk group Perth County Conspiracy, and wrote several songs that were performed and recorded by the band. Circa 1963, he performed at the "Lemon Tree" coffee house in Dayton, Ohio, for an extended time. Between sets he would read from a giant volume of Shakespeare. As a folk singer, he sang at the "Ebony Knight" coffee house on Main Street in Hamilton in the mid '60s; he also had performances at the "Black Swan" coffee house in Stratford, Ontario in 1967 and 1968. Cedric Delon Smith (born May 27, 1968) is an American former professional football player who was a running back for six seasons in the National Football League (NFL) during the 1990s. Smith played college football for the Florida Gators, and thereafter, he played in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Washington Redskins and Arizona Cardinals. Smith was an assistant strength & conditioning coach with the Denver Broncos from 2017 to 2020. He is currently the head assistant strength and conditioning coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Cedric Ivan James Smith (25 August 1906 – 8 February 1979) was an English cricketer who played in five Test matches for the England cricket team between 1935 and 1937. Career Known as "Big Jim", Smith joined the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) ground staff in 1926 and played for Wiltshire until 1933. He qualified for Middlesex in 1934 and took 172 wickets at 18.88 to finish 6th in the bowling averages in his debut season. He was selected for the 1934–35 MCC tour of the West Indies on the strength of this performance and played in every Test there. On debut, he took five wickets in the second innings in Bridgetown. He also appeared for England against New Zealand at Old Trafford in 1937. Smith only batted 10 times in Tests, but until his last innings he never batted in the same position in two successive innings.
