Cecil Aynsley
Cecil "The Red Flyer" Aynsley (23 March 1902 – 8 May 1975) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s and 1930s. A Queensland Rugby League, Queensland state and Australian national rugby league team, Australian representative and talented Goal (sport)#Rugby football, goal-kicker, he scored a try in each of his four national representative appearances. Born in Charters Towers, Queensland, Aynsley began his rugby league career there before in 1921 playing for the Wests Panthers, Western Suburbs Panthers in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership. Three years later he made his début for Australia against the touring Great Britain national rugby league team, Great Britain side playing in all three Test matches, scoring on each occasion. During the 1925 season he toured New Zealand with the Queensland team. He had a tremendous tour, scoring 34 tries in only eleven matches. Queensland Rugby League's Team Of The Century
The Queensland Rugby League Team of the Century is a hypothetical team comprising the best players who have played for Queensland to form a team for 1909 until 2008. Rugby league in Queensland was initiated in 1909 with the Queensland Rugby League, Queensland Rugby Football League competition, which evolved into the Brisbane Rugby League, Brisbane Rugby Football League in 1922. In 1988, a national competition encompassing all Australian states including Queensland meant that the Brisbane Rugby Football League competition became a second tier to the national competition. Today, three Queensland clubs participate in the national competition while two formerly did so. The team was announced at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 10 June 2008, ahead of the second State of Origin game in Brisbane.
