José Simeón Cañas Central American University (), also known as UCA El Salvador, is a private Catholic university with nonprofit purposes in Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Salvador. It is operated by the Society of Jesus. UCA was founded on September 15, 1965, at the request of a group of Catholic families who appealed to the Salvadoran government and the Society of Jesus in order to create a university as an alternative to the University of El Salvador, becoming the first private institution of higher education in the country. The Jesuits also ran Central American University in Nicaragua (UCA Managua), opened in 1960. Amatlán De Cañas
Amatlán de Cañas is a municipality and municipal seat in the southwest of the Mexican state of Nayarit, being the southernmost municipality in Nayarit. The population in 2005 was 10,392 (12,088 in 2000) in a total area of 765 km², which made up 2.77% of the surface of the state. The municipal seat had a population of 3,275 in 2005. It is bordered on the north by the municipalities of Ahuacatlán and Ixtlán del Río; on the east, west, and south by the state of Jalisco. (Map.')
