Cayetana Fernández
Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio (born 2005) is a Spanish amateur golfer. In 2022, she won the Spanish Ladies Amateur, the World Junior Girls Championship and the Junior Golf World Cup. Amateur career Fernández was born in Madrid in 2005 and enjoyed an impressive amateur career, winning the European Girls' Team Championship, the Junior Vagliano Trophy and the Junior Solheim Cup in 2021. In 2022, she won the Spanish International Ladies Amateur Championship, and was runner-up at the Girls Amateur Championship at Carnoustie Golf Links, behind Lottie Woad. She won the Junior Golf World Cup in Japan both with Spain and individually, and repeated the performance at the World Junior Girls Championship in Canada. Caroline Hedwall
Caroline Ingrid Hedwall (born 13 May 1989) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the LPGA Tour. In 2013 she became the first player to win five matches in a single Solheim Cup event. As an amateur she was a dominating player, winning the European Ladies Amateur Championship as well as the individual titles at the Espirito Santo Trophy and the NCAA Championship. Spirit International Amateur
The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship is a biennial amateur golf tournament which takes place in alternating years with the World Amateur Team Championships. The competition consists 20 countries represented by teams of four (two men and two women) and takes place at the Whispering Pines Golf Club, located 80 miles outside of Houston in Trinity, Texas. Added in 2013, the winner of the individual men's competition receives a sponsor exemption to the PGA Tour’s Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. 2024 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 2024 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 9–13 July at Real Sociedad Hípica Española Club de Campo in Madrid, Spain. It was the 41st women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Host nation Spain was defending champion. Venue The first 18 holes at the hosting club, Real Sociedad Hípica Española Club de Campo, were completed in 1997, located north of Madrid, Spain, in the district of Soto de Viñuelas forest, 35 kilometres from the city center. The course had previously hosted the 2007 Madrid Open and the 2010 Madrid Masters on the men's European Tour. The club has since then completed another 18 holes. 2023 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 2023 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 11–15 July at Tawast Golf & Country Club in Hämeenlinna, Finland. It was the 40th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Team Spain won the championship. Venue The hosting course is situated in Hämeenlinna (Tawastehus in Swedish) in southern Finland about 100 kilometers north of capital city Helsinki. European Ladies' Team Championship
The European Ladies' Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for women organised by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1959. It was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Format Currently, the championship is contested by up to 20 teams, each of 6 players. The format consists of two rounds of strokeplay, out of which the five lowest scores from each team's six players will count each day. The total addition of the five lowest scores will constitute the team's score and determine the teams qualified for the last three rounds of matchplay. Only teams in contention for a medal will play a match format of two foursomes and five singles, while the other teams will play a one foursome and four singles match format. 2022 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 2022 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 24–27 August at Le Golf National and Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche south-west of Paris, France. It was the 29th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. Format The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event. Each team of three players played two rounds at Le Golf National and two rounds at Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche in different orders. The top teams played their final round on Le Golf National, The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Venues Le Golf National had previously hosted the Open de France every year except two since 1991, the 2018 Ryder Cup and the 1994 Eisenhower Trophy and Espirito Santo Trophy. Espirito Santo Trophy
The Espirito Santo Trophy (World Women's Amateur Team Championships) is a biennial world amateur team golf championship for women organised by the International Golf Federation. The inaugural event was held in 1964. It was instituted by the French Golf Federation in an agreement with the United States Golf Association. It was planned by Lally Segard, at the time known as Vicomtesse de Saint Sauveur, from France and Mrs. Henri Prunaret from America. Segard also asked her friends Ricardo and Silvia Espirito Santo, from Portugal, to donate a trophy for the event, which they did. They had originally bought the golden cup, which had belonged to Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, for an international Portuguese event that was not played anymore. Blanca Fernández García-Poggio (born 17 January 2001) is a Spanish professional golfer and Ladies European Tour player. As an amateur, she won the 2017 World Junior Girls Championship. Amateur career Fernández was born in Madrid in 2002 and played for her national team. With Spain, she won the 2017 World Junior Girls Golf Championship in Canada and finished 3rd individually. She won silver at the 2018 European Girls' Team Championship in Sweden, and bronze at the 2022 European Ladies' Team Championship in Wales.
