Catholic High School (CHS) is a government-aided autonomous Catholic boys' school in Bishan, Singapore, founded in 1935 by a French missionary, Reverend Father Edward Becheras. One of the Special Assistance Plan schools in Singapore, it has a primary section offering a six-year programme and a secondary section offering a four-year programme. Since 2013, it has partnered with Eunoia Junior College for a six-year Integrated Programme, which allows its secondary students to proceed to Eunoia for Years 5 and 6 and take the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examinations at the end of Year 6. 1954 National Service Riots
In December 1953, the British colonial government in Singapore passed the National Service Ordinance, requiring all male British subjects and Federal citizens between the ages of 18–20 to register for part-time National Service. The deadline for registration was on 12 May 1954 and those who failed to register would be either jailed or fined. On 12 May 1954, students from the Chinese Middle Schools did not register themselves for National Service. In light of the impending deadline for registration and with requests from the Chinese students, Chief Secretary William Goode would later meet representatives from the affected student body in the government house on 13 May 1954. Singapore Chinese Girls' School (SCGS) is an independent girls' school in Novena, Singapore, located next to Stevens MRT station. Founded in 1899, it is one of the oldest institutions in Singapore. Guangyang Secondary School is a co-educational government secondary school in Bishan, Singapore. It merged with Braddell-Westlake Secondary School in 2006. History Kong Yiong High School (1986) Guangyang Secondary School has its humble origins in Kong Yiong High School which was located in Yio Chu Kang.However, in 1986, Kong Yiong High School was closed due to a sharp drop in school enrolment. Guangyang Secondary School (1987–2005) In 1987, the School Advisory Committee of Kiong Yong High School left a sum of about S$60,000 which was to be given to a school that adopted its name.
