Catherine Grèze (born 1960) is a French politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2009 until 2014, representing the South-West France constituency. She is a member of Europe Écologie–The Greens in the Midi-Pyrénées region since 1985 and participate in the Global Greens organization. In the 2009 European elections, Grèze was the second candidate on the Europe Écologie list in the South-West region, behind José Bové, and was elected to the European Parliament due to the list's surprisingly high 15.82% of the vote in the constituency. Midi-Pyrénées (; or ; ) is a former administrative region of France. Since 1 January 2016, it has been part of the new region of Occitania. The Global Greens (GG) is an international network of political parties and movements which work to implement the Global Greens Charter. It consists of various national green political parties, partner networks, and other organizations associated with green politics. Formed in 2001 at the First Global Greens Congress, the network has grown to include 76 full member parties and 11 observers and associate parties as of May 2022, so a total of 87 members. The 2009 European Parliament election was held in the 27 member states of the European Union (EU) between 4 and 7 June 2009. Europe Ecology () was a green electoral coalition of political parties in France created for the 2009 European elections composed of The Greens and other ecologists and regionalists. José Bové
Joseph "José" Bové (born 11 June 1953) is a French farmer, labor leader and alter-globalization activist, and spokesman for Via Campesina. He was one of the twelve official candidates in the 2007 French presidential election. He served in the European Parliament as a member of the European Green Party in the 2009–2014 and 2014–2019. Early life José Bové was born in Talence, near Bordeaux, but was raised in many different places. As a child he lived both inside and outside France, including the United States.
