Cathedral Square is a precinct in the central business district of Perth, Western Australia, bounded by Hay Street to the north, Pier Street to the east, St Georges Terrace to the south, and Barrack Street to the west. Located within the Cathedral Square precinct is the eponymous St George's Cathedral, Cadogan Song School, The Deanery, Burt Memorial Hall, Church House (containing the Anglican Diocese of Perth), City of Perth Library, the Perth Town Hall, the State Administrative Tribunal and the Public Trustee Building. The State Buildings are located on the south west corner of the square, which include the COMO The Treasury hotel, restaurants, bars and retail. City Of Perth Library
The City of Perth Library is a public library service provided by the City of Perth. The library is located on Hay Street, next to the Perth Town Hall. It is part of the redevelopment of Cathedral Square, located between St Georges Terrace and Hay, Barrack and Pier Streets. Prior to the completion of the current building in 2016, the library had been based at a number of locations, most recently 140 William Street in the Perth CBD. The City of Perth library is separate in operations from the other major library in Perth, the State Library of Western Australia at the Alexander Library Building. Kerry Hill
William Kerry Hill AO (19 June 1943 – 26 August 2018) was a Singapore-based, Australian architect who specialised in hotel design in tropical Asia. His works were known for their features of steeply-pitched pavilion roofs, shaded walkways, and an abundance of water features, affectionately dubbed the "Kerry Hill touch". He has been widely named as an influential figure in refining tropical modernist architecture and defining the Bali architectural style for his works on numerous hotels on the island. The Supreme Court of Western Australia is the highest state court in the Australian State of Western Australia. David Malcolm Justice Centre
The David Malcolm Justice Centre is a 33-storey, tall skyscraper on Barrack Street in Perth, Western Australia. The building is named after David Malcolm, a former chief justice of Western Australia, and houses civil courtrooms for the Supreme Court of Western Australia as well as office space for the Department of Treasury and the Department of Justice. Treasury Buildings, Perth
The Treasury Buildings, or Old Treasury Buildings, are part of the Cathedral Square complex situated between Barrack Street and St Georges Terrace in Perth, Western Australia. In the 1890s the buildings were known as the ''Government Buildings'' or ''Government Offices'' prior to the Treasury being situated in the building. The location was considered as significant in that the site of the founding of the city of Perth in 1829 was on the north west corner of the complex. Perth Town Hall
The Perth Town Hall, situated on the corner of Hay and Barrack streets in Perth, Western Australia, is the only town hall built by convicts in Australia. Upon completion it was the tallest structure in Perth. History Designed by Richard Roach Jewell and James Manning in the Victorian Free Gothic style, the hall was built by convicts and free men between 1867 and 1870. Its decorations contain a number of convict motifs, including windows in the shape of the broad arrow, and decorations in the shape of a hangman's rope. The foundation stone for Perth Town Hall was laid on 24 May 1867 by Governor Hampton in a ceremony involving a lot of pomp and parade. However, there were torrential downpours. Burt Memorial Hall
Burt Memorial Hall is a hall located on the southern side of Cathedral Square on St Georges Terrace, in Perth, Western Australia. Septimus and Louisa Burt gifted it to the Anglican Church in Perth, in memory of their sons who had lost their lives in World War I, Theodore in 1917, and Francis in 1918. The site was formerly the location of an old bungalow building used as a military officers quarters before becoming a church office. The foundation stone was laid on 26 October 1917 by Sir John Forrest, and the hall was opened on 12 June 1918 by Lieutenant Governor Sir Edward Albert Stone.
