Castor And Patience
''Castor and Patience'' is an opera composed by Gregory Spears to a libretto by Tracy K. Smith, commissioned by Cincinnati Opera for its 100th anniversary season and received its world premiere there in July 2022. The opera was developed by Opera Fusion: New Works, a collaboration between Cincinnati Opera and the University of Cincinnati – College-Conservatory of Music which focuses on the creation of new American operas. The world premiere production was directed by Kevin Newbury and conducted by Kazem Abdullah. Zachary Woolfe is an American music critic who specializes in classical music. Since 2022 he has been chief classical music critic for ''The New York Times''. Education and career As a teenager in the 1990s, Woolfe discovered the online opera magazine '' Parterre Box'' by James Jorden, whose pages he "returned to again and again". Woolfe later studied at Princeton University. Although he "had written a little bit for newspapers in college", he had not anticipated a career in journalism. Bass-baritone
A bass-baritone is a high-lying bass or low-lying "classical" baritone voice type which shares certain qualities with the true baritone voice. The term arose in the late 19th century to describe the particular type of voice required to sing three Wagnerian roles: the title role in '' Der fliegende Holländer'', Wotan/Der Wanderer in the '' Ring Cycle'' and Hans Sachs in '' Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg''. Zoie Reams
Zoie Reams is an American mezzo soprano opera singer. Until 2025, she mainly sang at the Houston Grand Opera, at the Minnesota Opera and at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. In 2021, she debuted at the Met. Career Zoie Reams studied at Lawrence University and Louisiana State University. She was then invited to the Butler Studio of the Houston Grand Opera. A tenor is a type of male singing voice whose vocal range lies between the countertenor and baritone voice types. It is the highest male chest voice type.
