Cassia Gens
The gens Cassia was a Roman family of great antiquity. The earliest members of this gens appearing in history may have been patrician, but all those appearing in later times were plebeians. The first of the Cassii to obtain the consulship was Spurius Cassius Vecellinus, in 502 BC. He proposed the first agrarian law, for which he was charged with aspiring to make himself king, and put to death by the patrician nobility. The Cassii were amongst the most prominent families of the later Republic, and they frequently held high office, lasting well into imperial times. Cassius Xavier-Lamarr Winston (born February 28, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Pallacanestro Reggiana of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He played college basketball for the Michigan State Spartans. High school career Winston, a 6'1 point guard, was a star prep player at University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy in Detroit. As a senior in 2016, he led his team to an MHSAA Class A State Championship, and was named Mr. Basketball of Michigan. Winston was inducted into the Catholic High School League Hall of Fame in 2020. Cassius (crocodile)
Cassius was a male saltwater crocodile (''Crocodylus porosus'') who was previously recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world's largest crocodile living in captivity in 2011. The animal measured in length, weighed approximately , and was kept at the Marineland Crocodile Park, a zoo on Green Island, Queensland, Australia. Cassius was officially recognized by Guinness in 2011, but lost the title in 2012 to Lolong, a saltwater crocodile caught in the southern Philippines. Cassius regained the title and held the record after Lolong's death in February 2013. Crocodile researcher Graeme Webb said that Cassius was "a big old gnarly crocodile" aged between 30 and 80 years old when he was captured in 1984, and was "maybe 120 years" in 2023. Cassius died in November 2024. A necropsy found no particular cause of death, indicating that he died of old age. "Cassius" is the second single from the album ''Antidotes'' by Foals. It is their fifth single in total to date. It was released as a digital download on 18 February 2008 and on CD and vinyl on 10 March 2008. In a video interview with ''NME'', lead singer Yannis Philippakis stated that the track was "the most straightforward song on the album. It's trying to deal with somebody being two-faced or, even to the extreme, someone having a split personality. The reason for why it's called Cassius – Cassius Clay who became Mohammad Ali, it's almost like there's two people in one and Cassius, the conspirator who instigated the assassination of Julius Caesar, who is a very literal symbol of being two faced". The video was directed by Dave Ma and shows the band playing with hanging hearts and pills.
