Pier Ferdinando Casini (; born 3 December 1955) is an Italian politician. He served as President of the Chamber of Deputies from 2001 to 2006. Casini is the honorary president of the Centrist Democrat International and the Inter-Parliamentary Union. From 1993 to 2001, he served as secretary of Christian Democratic Centre, while from 2002 until 2016 he was the leader of Union of the Centre. Being elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1983 for the first time, Casini is the longest-serving member of the parliament in Italy. Early life and career Casini was born in Bologna in 1955. She was awarded the 2012 European Medal for Bio-Inorganic Chemistry and made the 2019 American Chemical Society Inorganic Lecturer. Maria Teresa Casini (27 October 1864 – 3 April 1937) was an Italian nun and was the founder of the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The order was devoted to providing care for those around them with an added emphasis on demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ while spreading the message of the Gospel to the public. She was cleared for beatification in 2015 after a miracle was found to have been attributed to her intercession. She was beatified on 31 October 2015 in Frascati. Valore Casini (1590–1660) and Domenico Casini (active, 17th century) were two brothers, both Italian painters, active in Florence, mainly as portraitists in the first half of the 17th century. History They both trained in the studio of Domenico Passignano. Valore particularly was known for his portraits. His brother often completed the vestments of the featured individuals. The brother painted the portraits of Lorenzo, bishop of Fiesole, and his mother Genovessa Popoleschi found over the former's tomb in the Florentine church of Santa Maria in Campo.
