Agustín Casasola
Agustín Víctor Casasola (28 July 1874 – 30 March 1938) was a Mexican photographer and partial founder of the Mexican Association of Press Photographers. Casasola began his career as a typographer for the newspaper ''El Imparcial'', eventually moving to reporter then on to photographer in the early 1900s. He became a photographer in 1894. By 1911 Casasola was credited with founding the first Mexican press agency, Agencia Fotografica Mexicana. Casasola was later thanked by the interim president in 1911, Francisco León de la Barra, for having "inaugurated a new phase of freedom in the press photography." By the end of 1912 the agency had expanded and changed its name to Agencia Mexicana de Informacion Fotografica. The agency brought on more photographers and began purchasing pictures from foreign agencies and amateurs, then redistributing those photographs to newspapers. Barbara Casasola (born 16 June 1984 in Brazil) is a Brazilian Italian fashion designer based in Florence, Italy. Her label, CASASOLA, is a women's luxury ready-to-wear brand. Her bi-annual collections focus on knitwear and suiting, all sustainably made in Italy. Marcel-André Casasola Merkle (born 10 August 1977 in Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany) is a game designer. He has published thirteen games, including ''Rules!'', and illustrated for over 20. Together with other designers, he is active as a game editor since 1999 (amongst others for TransAmerica (board game), TransAmerica, 2002). He is co-founder (2000) of the publishing company Lookout Games. Rowland William Casasola (14 May 1893 – 29 March 1971), known as "Roland", was a British trade unionist and political activist. Born in Manchester, Casasola completed an apprenticeship as an iron moulder and joined the Friendly Society of Iron Founders in 1912. Casasola is a village in Friuli-Venezia Giulia in northeast Italy. It is a ''località'' of the ''comune'' of Frisanco, in the province of Pordenone. Geography Casasola has only 40 inhabitants, compared to 450 at its peak in the 1850s. It lies in the Val Colvera. History Casasola was founded in 1480 by Luca and Marco di Rosa (hence the root name Rosa which continues to be the family name of most of the families from Casasola) from the town of Maniago, approximately away. Luca was Marco's uncle and their purpose for moving (with their families) to the area at the base of Monte Raut was likely to make charcoal. Casasola Archive
The Casasola Archive is a photographic archive of Mexican history and culture, the foundational collection of the photo archive, Fototeca Nacional, administered by the Mexican government. The archive contains important historical photos from the regime of Porfirio Diaz and the Mexican Revolution. The main collection was compiled by Agustín Víctor Casasola, a photo journalist in Mexico City. The archive contains his own work as well as that of some 500 other photographers, with both positive prints and negative films, in various formats and on various photographic media. Since 1976, it is preserved in the climate-controlled rooms in a former colonial-era Franciscan convent, now the National Photo Library, of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico.
