Carus, Oregon
Carus is an unincorporated community in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. It is located about seven miles south of Oregon City, on Oregon Route 213. Carus had a post office from 1887 to 1907. The name may have come from a misreading of the name "Carns" on the application to the Post Office Department. It is unknown whether it was to be named for a place in another state or for a local family. The Fred Vonder Ahe House, now located in Molalla, served as the post office when it first opened. David Hunter was the first postmaster. In 1915 the community had two sawmills, a daily stagecoach to Oregon City and a twice-daily stagecoach to Canby. As of 1990 there was a school and a church. Fred Vonder Ahe House
The Fred Vonder Ahe House or Von der Ahe House was built in 1869 in the small community of Carus, Oregon, near Molalla for German immigrant Fred Vonder Ahe and his wife Marie Louisa Kleine Vonder Ahe. Fred arrived in New York in 1852 and followed the Oregon Trail to Oregon. He saved enough to acquire a farm in 1857, and sent for his fiancé Marie to join him in 1858. In 1887 the house became the Carus post office, as it was the oldest and most significant house in the community. In 1972 the house was under threat of demolition. It was acquired by the Molalla Area Historical Society and moved to a site in Molalla next to the Horace L. Dibble House. The Vonder Ahe House is described as a vernacular interpretation of the Federal style. It is an unusual example of a two-story plank house with well-preserved interior details. The Followers of Christ is a small Christian denomination based in the U.S. states of Oklahoma, Oregon, Idaho, formerly California, and was founded in Kansas. History The Followers of Christ church was founded in Chanute, Kansas, by General Marion Reece (b. 1844 - d. 1914) (sometimes spelled Riess), rooted in the Holiness Pentecostal traditions. Canby, Oregon
Canby is a city in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. The population was 18,171 at the 2020 census. It is along Oregon Route 99E, northeast of Barlow. History Canby is named for Edward Richard Sprigg Canby, a Civil War general who was later killed in the Modoc War by Captain Jack and his group of warriors. The area was known as Baker Prairie when the community was founded in 1857. Canby was platted in 1870. Canby was incorporated by the Oregon Legislative Assembly on February 15, 1893. Stagecoach

Molalla, Oregon
Molalla is a city in Clackamas County, Oregon, Clackamas County, Oregon. The population was 10,228 at the time of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census.
