Carter High School (Strawberry Plains, Tennessee)
Carter High School is a public high school located in the Strawberry Plains neighborhood of Knox County, Tennessee, operated by the Knox County school system. The school's athletic teams are the Hornets, and its colors are green and white. The sports teams sponsored by the school are baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. The original school building was completed in 1915 before the school year. It burned down several years later. A new school was built on the site after the fire which is now home to Carter Middle School. In 1976 the current Payton complex was built. Strawberry Plains, Tennessee
Strawberry Plains is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson, Knox, and Sevier counties in the State of Tennessee, United States. Before 2010, it was treated by the United States Census Bureau as a census county division. It is included in both the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Morristown Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of the CDP, which only covers the Jefferson County portion of the community, was 2,405 at the 2020 census. History The community that would become Strawberry Plains would be settled in 1785 by Adam Meek, a pioneer from North Carolina who would first settle in nearby Rocky Valley, and the first established settlement of newly founded Jefferson County. Mark Sherrod (born August 13, 1990) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a forward in Major League Soccer. Jordan Maliek Bowden (born January 20, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G League. A portable classroom (also known as a demountable or relocatable classroom), is a type of portable building installed at a school to temporarily and quickly provide additional classroom space where there is a shortage of capacity.
