Alexander Carte Doctor of Medicine, MD, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, FRCSI, Royal Irish Academy, MRIA (11 August 1805 – 25 September 1881) was an Ireland, Irish zoologist and paleontology, palaeontologist and was first director Natural History Museum (Ireland), Natural History Museum, Dublin. Early life Alexander Carte was born 11 August 1805 to Edward and Margaret Carte (née Elliot), in Newcastle West, County Limerick, the couple's only son. Edward Carte was an agent for the Devon estates in County Limerick. Carte began his education at Mr O'Brien's Academy, Limerick, then entering the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1823. His education progressed, attaining a BA in 1830, MA in 1833, MB in 1840, and finally an MD in 1860. Carte obtained a licence from the RCSI, and became a fellow in 1844, although he never engaged in general practice. The Hampster Dance is one of the earliest Internet memes. Created in 1997 by Canadian art student Deidre LaCarte as a GeoCities page, the dance features rows of animated GIFs of hamsters and other rodents dancing in various ways to a sped-up sample from the song " Whistle-Stop", written and performed by Roger Miller for the 1973 Walt Disney Productions film ''Robin Hood''. In 2005, CNET named the Hampster Dance the number-one Web fad. Background Canadian martial arts instructor and Malaspina University-College student Deidre LaCarte (of Nanaimo, British Columbia) was in a competition with her best friend and sister to generate the most Web traffic when she created the Hampster Dance page with the free Geocities web service in August 1997. Anto Carte
Antoine "Anto" Carte (8 December 1886 - 15 February 1954) was a Belgian painter. Antoine Carto was born in Mons in 1886. His father was a joiner. Anto Carte was first apprenticed to François Depooter, an interior painter, and then studied art at the academies of Mons and Brussels, and in Paris. He started working in a Symbolist style, but after the First World War became a Flemish Expressionist painter in the style of the painters of the group of Sint-Martens-Latem like Gustave Van de Woestijne. In 1917 he had his first exposition, of illustrations he made for a work by Emile Verhaeren. He exposed together with the Flemish Expressionists at the 1923 Salon d'Automne in Paris. He had a solo exhibition in Pittsburgh, at the Carnegie Institute, in 1924, where all 60 paintings were sold. Retrospective exhibitions at the Museum of Mons were organised in 1949 and in 1995.
