Carlos Roberto Flores
Carlos Roberto Flores Facussé (born March 10, 1950) is a Honduran politician and businessman who served as the 33rd President of Honduras from January 27, 1998 to January 27, 2002. A member of the Liberal Party, Flores was previously the President of the National Congress from January 25, 1994 to January 25, 1998. Background Flores Facussé is the son of Honduran journalist Oscar Flores Midence and Margarita Facussé de Flores, and is of Palestinian descent. He is the nephew of Miguel Facussé Barjum. He, his brother Oscar Flores and his sister Celsa Flores, an artist, all attended the American School of Tegucigalpa. He then earned a dual degree in industrial engineering and international economics and finance from Louisiana State University. He became a member of Phi Iota Alpha. The president of Honduras (), officially known as the President of the Republic of Honduras (), is the head of state and head of government of Honduras, and the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces. According to the 1982 Constitution of Honduras, the Government of Honduras consists of three branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. 1997 Honduran General Election
General elections were held in Honduras to elect a president and parliament on 30 November 1997. They were also the first elections in which the left wing Democratic Unification Party was allowed to stand. Closed list PR was used to elect Congress. The National Party of Honduras (PNH; ) is a conservative political party in Honduras founded on 27 February 1902, by Manuel Bonilla Chirinos. Historically it has been one of the two most influential parties in the country. The party's platform is based on Christian humanist doctrine, and its five main principles are common wealth, dignity of the human person, equality, solidarity and subsidiarity. Since the foundation of the National Party, Honduras has had 13 PNH presidents. Rafael Leonardo Callejas Romero (November 14, 1943 – April 4, 2020) was the 31st President of Honduras from January 27, 1990 to January 27, 1994, representing the National Party of Honduras (PNH). Early life and education Callejas was born on 14 November 1943 in Tegucigalpa in Honduras. He studied agricultural economics at Mississippi State University becoming an expert on financial and economic issues connected to agronomy.
