Carlos Pachamé
Carlos Oscar Pachamé (born 25 February 1944) is an Argentine former football player and coach, who played as a midfielder. Playing career As a player, Pachamé was a defensive midfielder for the Estudiantes de La Plata team that won three successive editions of the Copa Libertadores from 1968 to 1970, and the 1968 Copa Intercontinental. In those teams, he formed part of a fearsome midfield, along with Carlos Bilardo and Eduardo Flores. He also played for the Argentina national team and Boca Juniors. Later in his career he had short spells with Quilmes, Lanús, Independiente Medellin and Rochester Lancers. Coaching career After retirement, Pachamé became a coach. Under Pachamé, the Argentina under-20 team took second place in the 1983 U-20 World Cup. He was an assistant coach, during the tenure of Carlos Bilardo as the coach of the Argentina, when the team won the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico and finished second in the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. Carlos Bilardo
Carlos Salvador Bilardo Digiano (born 16 March 1938) is an Argentine former physician, football player, and manager. Bilardo achieved worldwide renown as a player with Estudiantes de La Plata in the 1960s, and as the manager of the Argentina side that won the 1986 FIFA World Cup and came close to retaining the title in 1990, where they reached the final. As manager of Argentina, he was renowned for successfully employing the 3–5–2 formation at the highest level; this formation has been in use for decades, but has never achieved mainstream status. The Copa Interamericana ( en, Interamerican Cup) was an annual club football competition contested between a representative from North America (CONCACAF) and South America ( CONMEBOL). Established in 1969, it was discontinued in 1998 after CONCACAF clubs, particularly those from Mexico, began participating in CONMEBOL competitions. The competition was intended to be contested between the winners of the North American CONCACAF Champions Cup and the South American Copa Libertadores tournaments, although the participants varied at times. The competition was usually contested over a two legged tie, with a playoff or penalty kicks if necessary. However, it was common for several consecutive editions to go unheld. Metropolitano Championship
The Metropolitano championship ("Campeonato Metropolitano") was an Argentine football tournament which existed between 1967 and 1984. The Metropolitano formed one half of the Primera División, taking place in the first half of the year, while the Nacional championship ("Campeonato Nacional") took place in the 2nd half of the year. This arrangement lasted until 1982 when they were reversed. The Metropolitano and Nacional were abandoned to make way for European style seasons beginning in 1985–1986.
