Carl Pentney
Carl Benjamin Pentney (born 3 February 1989) is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is currently the head of academy goalkeeping at Ipswich Town. Club career Leicester City Born in Colchester, Essex, Pentney started his career with the Leicester City youth system, where he was a regular for the under-18 side as well as the England under-17 team. He was part of the under-18 squad that won the FA Premier Academy League by beating Sunderland under-18s 4–3 in a penalty shootout in the 2006–07 season. Pentney signed his first professional contract on 5 May 2007, signing a one-year deal alongside Andy King, Max Gradel and Eric Odhiambo. He joined Conference Premier team York City on a one-month loan on 9 August following a trial, but he failed to make any appearances before returning to Leicester on 8 September. Maidenhead is a market town in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in the county of Berkshire, England. It lies on the southwestern bank of the River Thames, which at this point forms the border with Buckinghamshire. In the 2021 Census, the Maidenhead built-up area had a population of 67,375. Loan (sports)
In sports, a loan involves a particular player being able to temporarily play for a club other than the one to which they are currently contracted. Loan deals may last from a few weeks to a full season, sometimes persisting for multiple seasons at a time. A loan fee can be arranged by the parent club as well as them asking to pay a percentage of their wages. Association football Players may be loaned out to other clubs for several reasons. Most commonly, young prospects will be loaned to a club in a lower league in order to gain invaluable first team experience. Eric Odhiambo
Eric Geno Sije Odhiambo (born 12 May 1989) is an English former footballer who played for Kidlington in the Hellenic League as a striker. He began his career with Leicester City, but didn't make any first team league appearances, spending time on loan with Southend United, Dundee United and Brentford. Since leaving Leicester in 2009, Odhiambo has played for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in Scotland, Denizlispor in Turkey, Hereford United in England and Sligo Rovers in Ireland before joining Kidlington in 2015. Max-Alain Gradel (born 30 November 1987) is an Ivorian professional Association football, footballer who plays as a winger (association football), winger. Gradel received his first call-up to the Ivory Coast national team in November 2010. He made his debut for the national side on 5 June 2011. On 30 April 2011, Gradel won both the Fans Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards at Leeds. In June 2018, he joined French club Toulouse FC, Toulouse. Andrew Philip King (born 29 October 1988) is a football coach and former professional player who played as a central midfielder. He is the first-team coach at Leicester City. He spent the majority of his playing career with Leicester City, making 379 appearances across all competitions and scoring 62 goals. Penalty Shootout (association Football)
In association football, a penalty shoot-out (previously known as kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) has expired. For example, in a FIFA World Cup, penalties are used in elimination matches; the round of 32, the round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, and the final. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different players; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. The Premier Academy League (sometimes abbreviated as FAPAL) was the top level of youth football in England before it was to be replaced by a new league proposed by the Elite Player Performance Plan in 2012, which was accepted by the 72 member clubs of The Football League on 20 October 2011.
