Carl Bildt (1850–1931)
Baron Carl Nils Daniel Bildt (15 March 1850 – 26 January 1931) was a Swedish diplomat and historian. He spent most of his Foreign Office career as Swedish envoy in Rome and published extensively on Swedish historical topics relating to Rome and Italy. Early life A son of Gillis Bildt, he inherited the baronial title on his father's death in 1894. Career After a law degree from Uppsala and holding various lower-ranking diplomatic posts in London, Paris, Washington D.C., Berlin and Vienna, and as state secretary for foreign affairs, he was appointed Swedish envoy to Rome in 1889. He remained there until 1902 when he was transferred to the same position in London, but returned as envoy to Rome in 1905 and remained there as envoy until his retirement in 1920. He remained in Rome after retirement, died in 1931 and was buried in the Non-Catholic Cemetery for Foreigners there. Bridget of Sweden, OSsS ( – 23 July 1374), also known as Birgitta Birgersdotter and Birgitta of Vadstena (), was a Swedish Catholic mystic and the founder of the Bridgettines. Outside Sweden, she was also known as the Princess of Nericia and was the mother of Catherine of Vadstena. Count Carl Lewenhaupt (19 March 1835 – 10 December 1906) was a Swedish diplomat and politician, who was Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1889 to 1895. Early life Lewenhaupt was born on 19 March 1835 at Herrevad Abbey in Klippan Municipality, Sweden, the son of major, count Gustaf Adolf Lewenhaupt and his wife Maria (née von Geijer). He passed ''studentexamen'' in Lund in 1851 and devoted himself after passing '' kansliexamen'' in 1855 to the diplomatic service. Career Lewenhaupt became attaché in Paris in 1858 after first been serving as temporary office clerk at the Ministry for Civil Service Affairs in 1856 and as ''valet de chambre'' in 1857. Birger Wedberg
Carl Otto Birger Wedberg (28 September 1870 - 2 October 1945) was a Swedish jurist, non-fiction writer, and member of the Swedish Academy. Life After studying at Uppsala University and serving as a judge at the Svea Court of Appeal, he became an assessor there in 1907. He was a Justice from 1913 to 1940. Wedberg published several writings, including ''Konungens högsta domstol 1789-1844'' and ''Lidingöliv i gamla dar''. Memberships and honors Wedberg was knighted with the Order of the Polar Star in 1907. He became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities in 1929 and served as its preses from 1935 to 1945. The dates shown indicate the terms of the members, who generally serve for life except for Gustaf Mauritz Armfelt who was excluded twice. On 2 May 2018, the Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Swedish King amended the rules of the academy and made it possible for members to resign. The new rules also states that a member who has been inactive in the work of the academy for more than two years, can be asked to resign. The Royal Victorian Order () is a dynastic order of knighthood established in 1896 by Queen Victoria. It recognises distinguished personal service to the monarch, members of the royal family, or to any viceroy or senior representative of the monarch. The Royal Order of the Polar Star (Swedish language, Swedish: ''Kungliga Nordstjärneorden''), sometimes translated as the Royal Order of the North Star, is a Swedish order of chivalry created by Frederick I of Sweden, King Frederick I on 23 February 1748, together with the Order of the Sword and the Order of the Seraphim.
