Capitol Theater (Port Chester, New York)
The Capitol Theatre is a historic theater located in the village of Port Chester, New York, Port Chester, Westchester County, New York. It was designed by noted theater architect Thomas W. Lamb (1871–1942) and built in 1926. The 1,800-seat facility operates as a concert venue, hosting musicians and occasionally comedians, and is owned and operated by New York City-based concert promoter Peter Shapiro (concert promoter), Peter Shapiro. The Capitol Theatre has a long history, with tenures as a movie theater and catering hall, in addition to hosting concerts. Building structure The theater consists of a three-story section containing three storefronts, the theater entrance and two stories of office space in addition to the theater auditorium. Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer and songwriter. The Church are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1980. Initially associated with new wave, neo-psychedelia, and indie rock, their music later came to feature slower tempos and surreal soundscapes reminiscent of alternative rock, dream pop, and post-rock. God Street Wine (also known as GSW) is a jam band from New York City. Their music is an amalgam of rock, jazz, bluegrass, funk, psychedelia, pop, Americana, reggae, progressive, and more. Blues Traveler is an American rock band that formed in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1987. They are known for their extensive use of segues in live performances, and could be considered a key part of the re-emerging jam band scene of the 1990s, spearheading the H.O.R.D.E. touring music festival. The group comprises singer and harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla, and keyboardist Ben Wilson. Tad Kinchla and Ben Wilson joined the band following the death of original bassist Bobby Sheehan in 1999. Phish is an American rock band formed in Burlington, Vermont, in 1983. "Mercedes Benz" is an ''a cappella'' song written by the American singer Janis Joplin with Bob Neuwirth and the poet Michael McClure. The song was originally recorded by Joplin.
