Canoeing At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Slalom C-2
The men's canoe slalom C-2 competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place between 30 July and 2 August at the Lee Valley White Water Centre. Twenty-eight canoeists from 12 countries competed. Great Britain's Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott won the gold medal and David Florence and Richard Hounslow won silver. Twin brothers Pavol and Peter Hochschorner of Slovakia won the bronze. Competition format In the heats, each competitor had two runs; the 10 teams with the best time qualified for the semi-finals. Each semi-final consisted of one run each and the best six qualified for the final. The final saw one run each where the team with the best time won the gold medal. Lee Valley White Water Centre (previously known as Broxbourne White Water Canoe Centre) is a white-water slalom centre in the Middle Lea Valley, in the Borough of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. It was constructed to host the canoe slalom events of the London 2012 Olympic Games. On 9 December 2010, the Princess Royal officially opened the venue which is owned by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and managed by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) under its "Better" brand. Frank Henze
Frank Henze (born 1 April 1977 in Leipzig) is a German slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1995 to 2013. He won three medals in the C2 team event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with two silvers (2002, 2009) and a bronze (2010). He won six more medals at the European Championships in the same event (3 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes). At the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed in the C2 event. He did not advance to the semifinals after finishing 11th in the qualifying round. His partner in the boat between 1998 and 2002 was Kai Walter. Kynan Maley
Kynan Maley (born 13 October 1981 in Fremantle) is an Australian slalom canoeist. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed in the C-1 event as well as the C-2 event. In C-1 Maley reached the final where he finished in 6th place. He placed in 10th place in C-2 with Robin Jeffery after being eliminated in the semifinal. Stanislav Ježek (; born 21 November 1976 in Prague) is a Czech slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 1994. Vavřinec Hradilek (; born 10 March 1987) is a Czech slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2003. Hradilek competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. In the K1 event he finished seventh in the qualification round, thus progressing to the semifinals. In the semifinals he finished eleventh, failing to reach the final round. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London he won a silver medal in the K1 event. He recorded a time of 94.78 seconds in the final which was only beaten by Daniele Molmenti (93.43 s). Luka Božič (born 9 January 1991) is a Slovenian slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2006. He started out as a C2 paddler partnering Sašo Taljat in the boat until the C2 event was discontinued in 2017. Since 2013 he has been competing internationally in C1.
