Canindeyú
Canindeyú () is a department in Paraguay. The capital is the city of Salto del Guairá. Canindeyú comes from the Guarani words Kaninde - macaw; ju - yellow, blue-and-yellow macaw (''Ara ararauna''). Salto Del Guairá
Saltos del Guairá () is a city in Paraguay and the capital of Canindeyú department. It is located about 200 km north of Ciudad del Este. It borders the Brazilian municipality of Guaíra, across the Paraná River which marks the border between Paraguay and Brazil. The name "Guaíra" comes from the Tupi language and means "place difficult to access". The name "Saltos del Guairá", which means "Guairá Falls" in Spanish, is named after the Guaíra Falls (just like its Brazilian twin city), which were located on the border with Brazil. The falls were submerged after the construction of the Itaipu Dam in 1982 created the Itaipú lake. Curuguaty
Curuguaty (; originally called Villa de San Isidro Labrador de los Reyes Católicos de Curuguaty) is a city and a district in the Canindeyú Department of Paraguay, that was the 4th and last capital of Paraguay during the Paraguayan War in 1869–1870. Toponymy The meaning of the word “Curuguaty” is “place of the Curugua”, ''curugua'' (Latin: '' Cucurbita odorifera'') being a plant very common in the area. Geography Canindeyú Department has a richness in flora and is surrounded by the Mbaracayú Mountains, which have an average altitude of 400 meters above ocean level. Katueté
Katueté is a municipality of Paraguay that is located in the central area of the Department of Canindeyú. The district was created by law no. 342/94 on May 24, 1994. It is located 362 km from the capital city of Asunción, on Route 10. The name of Katueté is attributed to Dr. Alejandro Encina Marín, who on a tour with the owners of the area looking for a suitable site for the creation of an urban center, expressed upon arriving at the place in the Guaraní language "''katueté voi, ko ape oî porâta''”, to the owners' statement about the benefits of the location of that site.
