Canarsie High School
Canarsie High School was a public high school in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Canarsie in New York City. It first opened in 1964 but closed in 2011. The building currently operates as Canarsie Educational Campus, housing several smaller high schools. Closing Under the Impact Schools initiative in 2004, Canarsie High School received increased police and security presence. In 2007, it was announced Canarsie would close because it "was in such disarray that the only way to fix it would be to shut it down, replacing it with several smaller schools on the same campus. The school had received the lowest possible grades (F and U) under the Department of Education's first citywide progress reports. This was part of a trend in the city beginning in the 1990s and embraced by the administration of then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg to convert failing large high schools into educational campuses. High School For Medical Professions
The High School for Medical Professions is a public high school located in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Canarsie in New York City. It teaches grades 9 through 12, and enrolls students throughout the New York City school system. This high school opened in the buildings of the former Canarsie High School, which was closed due to poor performance and graduated its last class in 2011. The school will share its facilities with the Urban Action Academy and the High School for Innovation in Advertising and Media. The school is set to focus on training its students for a pre-medical and pre-health sciences curriculum, including the nursing and pharmacy fields. Randy Howard Katz (born 1955) is an American computer scientist. He is a distinguished professor emeritus at University of California, Berkeley of the electrical engineering and computer science department. Biography Katz was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1955. Alan Stuart Edelman (born June 1963) is an American mathematician and computer scientist. The Fat Boys were an American hip-hop trio from Brooklyn, New York (state), New York, who emerged in the early 1980s. Mark Anthony Morales (February 19, 1968 – February 18, 2021), better known by the stage name Prince Markie Dee, was an American rapper. He was a member of the Fat Boys, a pioneering hip hop group that gained fame during the 1980s. Morales was the vice-president of Uncle Louie Music Group. Warren Bruce Cuccurullo (born December 8, 1956) is an American musician, songwriter, restaurant owner, and former bodybuilder who first worked with Frank Zappa during the 1970s.
