Campvale
Campvale is a sparsely populated rural suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. Geography Campvale is roughly rectangular in shape and consists predominantly of bushland on sandy soil. It is bisected by Richardson Road, the main east–west road between Raymond Terrace and Port Stephens. In the centre of the suburb, Medowie Road, the main south–north road connecting , Campvale, and to the Pacific Highway, crosses Richardson Road at the Medowie roundabout. There is only one other road in the suburb, in the northeastern corner. Adjacent to Grahamstown Dam Grahamstown Dam is a major off-stream earthfill Embankment dam with a controlled labyrinth spillway and baffle chute that stores water from the Williams River. 2013 New South Wales Bushfires
The 2013 New South Wales bushfires were a series of bushfires in Australia across the state of New South Wales primarily starting, or becoming notable, on 13 October 2013; followed by the worst of the fires beginning in the Greater Blue Mountains Area on 16 and 17 October 2013. High fuel loads, coupled with warm, dry and windy weather, provided dangerous conditions which fuelled the fires. They all swept everywhere across the state. At the peak of the fires, on the morning of 18 October, over 100 fires were burning across the state. The Premier of New South Wales Barry O'Farrell declared a state of emergency on 20 October, empowering firefighters to evict residents and demolish fire-affected buildings. The fires were the worst in New South Wales since the 1960s, although they were dwarfed by the 2019-2020 Australia bushfires. , 248 houses and other structures were destroyed across the state. Raymond Terrace
Raymond Terrace, locally known as "Raymo” or "The Terrace", is a town in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia, about by road north of Newcastle, New South Wales, Newcastle on the Pacific Highway, Australia, Pacific Highway. Established in 1837 it is situated at the Confluence (geography), confluence of the Hunter River, New South Wales, Hunter and Williams River (New South Wales), Williams rivers. The town was named after Lieutenant (navy), Lieutenant Raymond, who had explored the Hunter River in 1797 and described the terraced appearance of trees in the area. Governor of New South Wales, Governor Lachlan Macquarie camped in the area in 1818, using "Raymond's Terrace" as the name for the place where his party had camped. At the Raymond Terrace had a population of 13,453.
