Goiás () is a Brazilian States of Brazil, state located in the Central-West Region, Brazil, Central-West region. 2020 Campeonato Goiano
The 2020 Campeonato Goiano (officially the Campeonato Goiano de Profissionais da 1ª Divisão – Edição 2020) was the 77th edition of Goiás's top professional football league. The competition began on 22 January 2020 and ended on 27 February 2021. On 17 March 2020, FGF suspended the Campeonato Goiano indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. Some months later, on 4 August 2020, they announced that the tournament would be resumed on 13 January 2021. Atlético Goianiense, the defending champions, defeated Goianésia on penalties in the final, capturing their 15th title. Associação Atlética Aparecidense, commonly referred to as Aparecidense, is a Brazilian professional club based in Aparecida de Goiânia, Goiás founded on 22 October 1985. It competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, the fourth tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Goiano, the top flight of the Goiás state football league. History Aparecidense was founded on 22 October 1985. The club played their first professional competition in 1992, playing in the Campeonato Goiano Second Level. The 2013 '' Campeonato Goiano de Futebol'' was the 70th season of Goiás' top professional football league. The competition began on January 20 and ended on May 19. Goiás were the champion by the 24th time. Rio Verde and Itumbiara were relegated. Format The tournament consists of a double round-robin format, in which all ten teams play each other twice. The four better-placed teams will face themselves in playoffs matches. The bottom two teams on overall classification will be relegated. The top 3 will qualify for the 2014 Copa do Brasil. Itumbiara Esporte Clube, usually known simply as Itumbiara, is a Brazilian football club from Itumbiara, Goiás state. The club competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 1979 and won the state championship in 2008. History On March 9, 1970, Itumbiara Esporte Clube was founded, as a result of the merger of local teams ''Goiás'' (founded in 1964) and ''Nacional'' (founded in 1952). In 1979, Itumbiara competed in the top level of the Brazilian Championship, finishing in the 64th position. In 2008, Itumbiara won the state championship for the first time, after beating Goiás 1–0 and 3–0 in the final. In 2010, Itumbiara finished state championship on 9th and penultimate place and were relegated to second level. Due to this performance they were qualified to 2011 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D because all 2011 Campeonato Goiano teams withdrew.
