Camotán
Camotán is a municipality in the Chiquimula department of Guatemala. History 2001 famine On 3 August 2001, Camotán municipality declared yellow code in the area when it learned about the desperate situation that the rural communities were facing imminent famine; the root cause of the crisis were the short raining season, and the decline in the international coffee price. Alfonso Portillo's government decreed State of Calamity to get international help; officially, 48 deceased were reported, but there were rumors of hundreds of casualties. In March 2022, the Catholic church in the town of Camotan burnt down because lightning stroke it after a severe rainstorm, and the town mayor, Noe Guerra asked for national refund help to rebuild the church, there is no further notice about the plan. Esquipulas
Esquipulas (Nahuatl: Isquitzuchil, "place where flowers abound"), officially Municipality of Esquipulas, whose original name was Yzquipulas, is a town, with a population of 18,667 (2018 census), and a municipality located in the department of Chiquimula, in eastern Guatemala. Chiquimula Department

Jocotán
Jocotán is a town and municipality in the Chiquimula department of Guatemala. Radio Chortis, a Roman Catholic radio station funded by Belgian and German Catholics, is located in the town. Tropical savanna climate or tropical wet and dry climate is a tropical climate sub-type that corresponds to the Köppen climate classification categories ''Aw'' (for a dry "winter") and ''As'' (for a dry "summer"). The driest month has less than of precipitation and also less than 100-\left (\frac \right)mm of precipitation. Zacapa Department
Zacapa () is one of the 22 departments of Guatemala. It lies in eastern Guatemala with its capital in the city of Zacapa, approximately 112 kilometers (70 miles) from Guatemala City. Geography To the north lie the departments of Alta Verapaz and Izabal; to the east is the border with the Republic of Honduras; on the south are Chiquimula and Jalapa and to the west is El Progreso. The northern half of the department is mountainous, crossed from west to east by the Sierra de las Minas. Alfonso Portillo
Alfonso Antonio Portillo Cabrera (born 24 September 1951) is a Guatemalan politician who served as the 45th president of Guatemala from 2000 to 2004. He took office on 14 January 2000, representing the Guatemalan Republican Front (FRG), the party then led by retired general and deposed military ruler Efraín Ríos Montt (1926–2018). In 2014, ten years after his departure from the presidency, Portillo would plead guilty to corruption charges in a United States court. Early life and education Portillo was born in Zacapa.
