Camillo Bazzoni
Camillo Bazzoni (29 December 1934 – 8 October 2020) was an Italian cinematographer and film director. Career Born in Salsomaggiore Terme, Bazzoni started as camera operator in 1960. From 1967 he worked as cinematographer with, among others, Lina Wertmüller, Mario Monicelli, Salvatore Samperi, Massimo Troisi, and Franco Rossi. He was also a second unit camera operator on Warren Beatty's '' Reds''. After a series of documentaries and short films, in 1968 Bazzoni debuted as a film director with Macaroni Combat, ''Suicide Commando'', and a Spaghetti Western, ''A Long Ride from Hell''. Salsomaggiore Terme
Salsomaggiore Terme ( Salsese: ; Parmigiano: ) is a town and ''comune'' located in the province of Parma, in the region of Emilia-Romagna. Located at the foot of the Apennines, its warm saline waters made this a popular Spa town. History In the first half of the 19th century, during the reign of Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma, the thermal waters of Salsomaggiore became attractive to visitors for having therapeutic purposes. The mineral waters of Salsomaggiore belong to the bromo-iodine group salty waters. A hypertonic and cold water extracted from artesian wells, deep, at a temperature of and at a density of 16° on the Baumé scale (1 degree Baumé is equivalent to approximately salt per litre). The main focus of the town became its baths, notably the "terme" located in the center. The town remains attractive to visitors. A Long Ride From Hell
''A Long Ride from Hell'' ( Italian: ''Vivo per la tua morte'', lit. "I live for your death") is a 1968 Spaghetti Western film directed by Camillo Bazzoni. It is based on the novel ''Judas Gun'' by Gordon D. Shirreffs. The film was bodybuilder Steve Reeves' final film prior to his retirement. Reeves, who turned down the lead of '' A Fistful of Dollars'' financed and co-wrote the film himself upon seeing the successful box office returns of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns at the time. The film did poorly and Reeves retired from filmmaking that year. Plot Reeves portrays cowboy Mike Sturges, who, along with his younger brother, Roy, is sentenced to Yuma Territorial Prison on a trumped-up train robbery charge. Both endure cruel treatment before Mike escapes to exact revenge on their enemies. Vittorio Storaro, A.S.C., A.I.C. (born 24 June 1940) is an Italian cinematographer widely recognized as one of the best and most influential in cinema history, for his work on numerous classic films including '' The Conformist,'' ''Apocalypse Now'', and '' The Last Emperor''. In the course of over fifty years, he has collaborated with directors such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Francis Ford Coppola, Warren Beatty, Woody Allen and Carlos Saura. Luigi Bazzoni
Luigi Bazzoni (25 June 1929 - 1 March 2012) was an Italian director and screenwriter. Born in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy, Bazzoni was the elder brother of the film director and cinematographer Camillo Bazzoni and a cousin of the Academy Award winner Vittorio Storaro. He began his career as assistant director of Mauro Bolognini. Later he became director of films and short films, gaining critical attention for two Spaghetti Westerns, '' Man, Pride and Vengeance'' and ''Brothers Blue''. His short film ''Di Domenica'' achieved a Special Mention at the 1963 Cannes Film Festival. Spaghetti Western
The Spaghetti Western is a broad subgenre of Western films produced in Europe. It emerged in the mid-1960s in the wake of Sergio Leone's film-making style and international box-office success. The term was used by foreign critics because most of these Westerns were produced and directed by Italians. Leone's films and other core Spaghetti Westerns are often described as having eschewed, criticized, or even "demythologized" many of the conventions of traditional U.S. Westerns. This was partly intentional and partly the context of a different cultural background.
