Clan Cameron is a West Scottish Highlands, Highland Scottish clan, with one main branch Lochiel, and numerous cadet branches. The Clan Cameron lands are in Lochaber, and within their lands lies Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles. The Chief of the clan is customarily referred to as simply "Lochiel". History Origins Like with many clans, the origins of Clan Cameron's chiefly family are uncertain and there are several theories, as well as fanciful origin legends. One such legend claims that Lochiel, like the Royal House of Stuart, was descended from Banquo, Thane of Lochaber (specifically the progeny of "his sister Marion who married one Angus"). Cameron is a town in Le Flore County, Oklahoma, United States. It is part of the Fort Smith, Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 302 at the 2010 census, a decline of 3.2 percent from the figure of 312 recorded in 2000. History When the Fort Smith and Southern Railway laid tracks in the area of the present day town of Cameron in 1886–87, there was already a settlement of about 40 people. Cameron is a town in Moore County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 244 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, down from 285 in 2010 United States census, 2010. History Cameron grew up around a plank road that was followed in later years by a railroad. The town was planned in 1875 and incorporated in 1876. Cameron was at the end of the Raleigh and Augusta Railroad. Its location made it an ideal place for entrepreneurs to establish businesses. They built turpentine distilleries, established mercantile and hotel businesses to serve the needs of the railroad's customers and built a thriving dewberry farming and consignment operation. . Cameron is a town in Steuben County, New York, United States. The population is 898 as of 2020. The town is named after Dugald Cameron, an early settler and land agent of the Pulteney Estate. The Town of Cameron is centrally located in the county, west of the City of Corning. History Around 1800, the first settler arrived near the present community of Cameron. The town was formed from the Town of Addison in 1822. Parts of Cameron were lost on the founding of the cities of Thurston (1844) and Rathbone (1856). The New York and Erie Railroad line through Cameron opened in September 1850. The line, recently owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway, with trains operated by NS and Canadian Pacific (the latter under haulage arrangements), was destroyed by Hurricane Agnes in 1972 and had to be rebuilt afterward. Cameron is a city in Clinton, DeKalb and Caldwell counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. The population was 8,513 at the 2020 census. The Clinton and Caldwell counties portion of Cameron are part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, while the DeKalb County portion is part of the St. Joseph, Missouri Metropolitan Area.
