Cameron Barr is an Australian rules football umpire currently officiating in the Australian Football League. Before umpiring in the AFL, he umpired in the North East Australian Football League, officiating in the 2015 and '17 Grand Finals. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional sports, professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the Laws of Australian football, laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with 1897 VFL season, its inaugural season commencing the following year. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. The North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) was an Australian rules football league in New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory. The league was formed in November 2010, and its inaugural competition was in 2011. It was a second division league, sitting below the national Australian Football League (AFL) and featured the reserves teams of the region's four AFL clubs playing alongside six non-AFL affiliated NEAFL senior teams. Troy Pannell
Troy Pannell is a former Australian rules football field umpire who officiated in the Australian Football League (AFL). In a career which began in 2005 and ended in 2018, he umpired 219 games in the AFL. In 2004, before officiating at the top level, he was awarded the Golden Whistle by the New South Wales Australian Football Umpires Association. In 2012, Pannell was appointed to his first final, the Elimination Final between Geelong and Fremantle at the MCG. The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales.
