Cambroon, Queensland
Cambroon is a rural locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Cambroon had a population of 211 people. Geography Cambroon is located on the Mary River. It is on the Maleny-Kenilworth Road. History Cambroon takes its name from the pastoral run of the same name, which was established in 1855 by J. D. MacTaggart. The name of the pastoral run is believed to be the name of an Aboriginal leader at the time of first contact. In 1887, of land were resumed from the Cambroon pastoral run for the establishment of small farms. The land was offered for selection on 17 April 1887. Residents began to lobby for a school in 1919. Cambroon Provisional School opened on 5 February 1923 and became Cambroon State School on 1 December 1924. The school closed in May 1944. It was on a site at 1038 Eastern Mary River Road (). Mary River (Queensland)
The Mary River (Gubbi Gubbi language, Gubbi Gubbi: Moocooboola) is a major river system in the South East Queensland, South East and Wide Bay–Burnett regions of Queensland, Australia. It is the six longest coastal river in the state and unique in that it flows south to north. It is home to three threatened species, the Mary River turtle, white-throated snapping turtle and the Mary River cod. The Mary River was to be dammed with the construction of the Traveston Crossing Dam until it was cancelled due to environmental reasons. The river has experienced major floods in 1955, 1992, 1999, 2011, 2013 and 2022. Wamuran State School
Wamuran is a rural town and locality in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Wamuran had a population of 3,374 people. Wamuran is known for its roadside stalls selling the local produce including strawberries and pineapples. In April 2023, the Queensland Government decided to reflect the growing population of the region by creating five new localities named Corymbia, Greenstone, Lilywood, Wagtail Grove, and Waraba by excising parts of the existing localities of Bellmere, Rocksberg, Upper Caboolture, and Wamuran.
