''Caiçara'' is a 1950 Brazilian drama film co-directed by Adolfo Celi, Tom Payne, and John Waterhouse. It was nominated for the Grand Prize of the Festival at the 1951 Cannes Film Festival. Plot Trapped in an unhappy marriage, Marina (Eliane Lage) finds herself the object of desire for her husband's business partner, Manuel (Carlos Vergueiro). Adolfo Celi
Adolfo Celi (; 27 July 1922 – 19 February 1986) was an Italian film actor and director. Born in Curcuraci, Messina, Sicily, Celi appeared in nearly 100 films, specialising in international villains. Although a prominent actor in Italian cinema and famed for many roles, he is best remembered internationally for his portrayal of Emilio Largo in the 1965 James Bond film '' Thunderball''. Celi later spoofed his ''Thunderball'' role in the film '' OK Connery'' (aka ''Operation Double 007'') opposite Sean Connery's brother, Neil Connery. Life and career Celi became a film actor in post-war Italy. He left the Italian film industry when he emigrated to Brazil where he co-founded the Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia along with the Brazilian stage greats Paulo Autran and Tônia Carrero in São Paulo He was successful as a stage actor in Argentina and Brazil. Cinemateca Brasileira
The Cinemateca Brasileira is the institution responsible for preserving Brazilian audiovisual production. In July 2021, it experienced a major fire. Since 1940, it has been developing activities around the dissemination and restoration of its collection, with around 250 thousand rolls of films and more than one million documents related to cinema. It is located in Largo Senador Raul Cardoso, São Paulo. The building previously acted as the Old Municipal Slaughterhouse of São Paulo from 1887 to 1927. It had the largest collection of "moving images" in Latin America and is one of the largest institutions of its kind in the world. It preserved a large part of the nation's cinematographic content and houses the greatest collection of Brazilian cinema, with more than 250,000 rolls of film. Ilhabela (Portuguese for ''Beautiful Island'') is an archipelago and city situated in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of São Paulo state in Brazil. José Mauro de Vasconcelos (February 26, 1920 – July 24, 1984) was a Brazilian writer. Biography José Mauro was born in Rio de Janeiro on February 26, 1920. His family was very poor, and when he was still very young, he migrated to Natal where relatives took care of him. Entering the Medical faculty, Mauro abandoned the course of studies in his second year and returned to Rio de Janeiro. There he worked as a boxing instructor and even as a painter's model. Mauro initiated his literature with the novel ''Banana Brava''.
