Cairo League
The Cairo League was an Official Egyptian football tournament. Before the start of Egyptian Premier League in its current form, the main competition was the Egypt Cup which started in 1922. The first season was played in 1922–23 and was won by Zamalek. History Egyptian Football Association started its 1st league competition (1922) in the form of regional leagues (Cairo, Alexandria, Bahary and Canal). The competition was played along with the new league form (1948–1954) then finally stopped. Tersana Sporting Club () is an Egyptian sports club based in Meet Okba, Giza, Egypt. It is best known for its professional football team, which plays in the Egyptian Second Division, the second-highest tier in the Egyptian football league system. Tersana's most important accomplishments include winning the Egypt Cup title six times and the Egyptian league title once. On the continental side, Tersana also participated in the CAF Cup Winners' Cup once in 1987 and was eliminated in the second round by Tunisian Espérance. The Egyptian Premier League (), also known as the Nile League () for sponsorship reasons, after the addition of title sponsor Nile Developments, is a professional association football league in Egypt and the highest level of the Egyptian football league system. The league comprises 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Egyptian Second Division A. Seasons mostly run from August to May. Zamalek 1921
Zamalek ( , ''al zamalek'') is a ''qism'' (ward) within the West District (''hayy gharb'') in the Western Area of Cairo, Egypt. It is an affluent district on a man-made island which is geologically a part of the west bank of the Nile River, with the ''bahr al-a'ma'' (Blind Canal) cut during the second half of the 19th Century to separate it from the west bank proper.
