Cadena Melodía is a Colombian radio network, founded in 1971 by Liberal politician Efraín Páez Espitia, who owned Radio Melodía of Bogotá since 1959. There are two types of radio network currently in use around the world: the one-to-many (simplex communication) broadcast network commonly used for public information and mass media, mass-media entertainment, and the two-way radio (Duplex (telecommunications), duplex communication) type used more commonly for public safety and public services such as police, fire, taxicabs, and delivery services. Colombian Liberal Party
The Colombian Liberal Party (; PLC) is a centre to centre-left political party in Colombia. It was founded as a classical liberal party but later developed a more social-democratic tradition, joining the Socialist International in 1999. The Liberal Party along with the Colombian Conservative Party dominated the Colombian political scene from the end of the 19th century until 2002, in bipartisan political hegemony. The two parties were in direct military conflict between 1948 and 1958, during the civil war period known as '' La Violencia'', after which they established the " National Front", agreeing to rotate power, intercalating for a period of four presidential terms. Radio Líder was the flagship station of the AM network of Cadena Melodía, a Colombian radio network. It started in 1947 as Radio Industrial. It would later be renamed to Radio Capital, until 1959 when Liberal party politician Efraín Páez Espitia bought the station and changed its name to Radio Melodía. In 2012, Cadena Melodía rented sister station Melodía FM Estéreo to Valórem, owner of Caracol TV Caracol is a large ancient Maya archaeological site, located in what is now the Cayo District of Belize. Since its inception, it has been focused on the easy listening genre, with some news on mornings and afternoons on weekdays. Easy Listening
Easy listening (including mood music) is a popular music genre and radio format that was most popular during the 1950s to the 1970s. It is related to middle of the road (MOR) music and encompasses instrumental recordings of standards, hit songs, non- rock vocals and instrumental covers of selected popular rock songs. It mostly concentrates on music that pre-dates the rock and roll era, characteristically on music from the 1940s and 1950s. It was differentiated from the mostly instrumental beautiful music format by its variety of styles, including a percentage of vocals, arrangements and tempos to fit various parts of the broadcast day. Bluradio
Blu Radio is a radio station in Bogotá, Colombia, owned by Caracol TV. In July 2012, Caracol TV leased HJMD (the frequency of Melodía FM Estéreo, an easy listening station) from Cadena Melodía, in order to create a news radio station. Test broadcasts started soon after, with a soft AC format and simulcasting '' Noticias Caracol''. Blu Radio started definitive broadcasts 6 September 2012. Bolero
Bolero is a genre of song which originated in eastern Cuba in the late 19th century as part of the trova tradition. Unrelated to the older Spanish dance of the same name, bolero is characterized by sophisticated lyrics dealing with love. It has been called the "quintessential Latin American romantic song of the twentieth century". Unlike the simpler, thematically diverse ''canción'', bolero did not stem directly from the European lyrical tradition, which included Italian opera and canzone, popular in urban centers like Havana at the time. Instead, it was born as a form of romantic folk poetry cultivated by a new breed of troubadour from Santiago de Cuba, the ''trovadores''. Pepe Sánchez is considered the father of this movement and the author of the first bolero, "Tristezas", written in 1883.
