CZW
Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) is an American independent professional wrestling promotion founded in 1999 by John Zandig. Commonly associated with the 2000s hardcore wrestling genre, early CZW shows showcased a brand of wrestling dubbed by the promotion as "ultraviolence". Early CZW matches featured items such as ladders, tables, steel folding chairs, thumbtacks, barbed wire-covered baseball bats, weed whackers, light tubes, and panes of glass. The promotion filled a niche for hardcore wrestling fans that had been left open by the folding of Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in 2001. In 2009, CZW's founder John Zandig sold the promotion to CZW wrestler D. J. Hyde. Although hardcore wrestling continued to be a prominent part of CZW shows, under Hyde the frequency of hardcore matches would gradually decrease. CZW Cage Of Death
The Cage of Death is Combat Zone Wrestling's biggest show since 1999. It always features the Cage of Death match, a steel cage with various weapons littered in the cage. Electrified cage walls, cacti, tables, light tubes, glass, thumbtacks, baseball bats, barbed wire, fire and numerous other weapons and objects have been used in it. The first two were simple either pin and/or submit to win cage matches with weapons littered in and around the cage. The Cage of Death also has different formats and stipulations: singles, tag team, or gauntlet. Each Cage of Death features two or more wrestlers in the cage. For Cage of Death 5, 6, and 7, WarGames stipulations were used. CZW Best Of The Best
Combat Zone Wrestling's Best of the Best is a professional wrestling tournament and supershow held in the CZW promotion. The annual ''Best of The Best'' was originally a junior heavyweight tournament, which in 2005 was repurposed as an all weight tournament. The first four tournaments saw 12 men first compete in elimination style 3-way matches in the first round before then single elimination matches until a winner was determined. During the 2005 tournament, which was held on May 14, 2005, the winner was determined by all single elimination matches. The original tournament structure returned in 2006, but saw the last four men face off in one match to determine the winner. Nick Gage
Nicholas William Wilson (born September 22, 1980), better known by his ring name Nick Gage, is an American professional wrestling, professional wrestler wrestling for various Professional wrestling promotions, promotions on the independent circuit. He is the only man to win the "big three" of American deathmatch tournaments: the CZW Tournament of Death, the IWA Mid-South King of the Deathmatch, and the GCW Tournament of Survival. Rickey Shane Page
Rickey Shane Page (born March 1, 1984) is an American professional wrestler. He currently wrestles on the independent circuit. Page started out as a backyard wrestler before making the transition to professional wrestling, where he was trained by Chris Kole, and debuted in 2003. He wrestled under a mask as Christian Faith on the independent circuit, and regularly teamed with Vincent Nothing, becoming multiple-time tag champions in different promotions. Despite the popularity of his partnership with Nothing, he began wrestling under his own name in 2011, and retired the Christian Faith character in 2015. John Zandig
John Corson (born April 4, 1971), better known by the ring name John Zandig, is an American professional wrestler and promoter. He is the founder and former owner of the promotion Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). Early life Corson was born in Sewell, New Jersey. Before he was a professional wrestler, Corson was an explosives and demolition expert. Professional wrestling career Corson began training as a wrestler in 1994 and adopted the ring name John Zandig in 1999, his surname deriving from Misfits' front man and fellow New Jersey native, Glenn Danzig. The Tournament of Death is an annual professional wrestling tournament organized by Combat Zone Wrestling since 2002, during which a number of wrestlers compete in various deathmatches in what are mostly single-elimination tournaments similar to World Wrestling Entertainment's King of the Ring tournament. These tournaments include the typical hardcore weapons used in hardcore wrestling, deathmatch wrestling such as barbed wire, nail (fastener), nails, thumbtacks, fire, table (furniture), tables, ladders, and Fluorescent lamp, light tubes, and are known for all their large amounts of blood loss. Hardcore wrestling is a form of professional wrestling where disqualifications, count-outs, and all other different rules do not apply. Taking place in usual or unusual environments, hardcore wrestling matches allow the use of numerous items, including ladders, tables, chairs, thumbtacks, barbed wire, light tubes, shovels, glass, baseball bats (sometimes wrapped in barbed wire) and other improvised weapons used as Foreign object (professional wrestling), foreign objects. (BJW) is a Japanese professional wrestling promotion established in 1995. It is most famous for its deathmatch style contests. History Big Japan Pro Wrestling was founded in March 1995 by former AJPW wrestlers Shinya Kojika and Kendo Nagasaki, during the boom period for Deathmatch wrestling in Japan. Women Superstars United (WSU), formerly known as Wrestling Superstars Unleashed and Women Superstars Uncensored, was an American women's professional wrestling promotion based in New Jersey which has been inactive since 2020. Founded in 2006, WSU events combine professional wrestling interspersed with both serious and comedic storylines.
