CS Știința Bacău (women's Volleyball)
Știința Bacău is a Romanian women's volleyball team based in Bacău, which competes in Divizia A1, the top Romanian women's volleyball championships. The team represents the women's volleyball section of the multi-sport club CS Știința Bacău, which also include athletics, badminton, women's handball and karate. The club also had men's football and handball sections in the past. The team competed in the 2018–19 Women's CEV Cup. Știința Bacău was a Romanian football team located in Bacău, founded in 1965 and dissolved in 1975. The team represented the football section of the multi-sport club CS Știința Bacău, which also include athletics, women's handball, men's handball, women's and men's volleyball sections. The short ten years history of the team was a rich one in memories and successful achievements, advancing quickly from the city championship to second division. History The Bacău Pedagogical Institute football team was founded in August 1965 by the young coach Corneliu Costinescu. 2018–19 Women's CEV Cup
} The 2018–19 Women's CEV Cup was the 47th edition of the European CEV Cup volleyball club tournament, the former "Top Teams Cup". Format The tournament is played on a knockout format, with 27 teams participating. Initially 20 teams were allocated direct vacancies to enter the competition, with another 7 teams joining the competition via Champions League qualification. On 29 June 2018, a drawing of lots in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, determined the team's pairing for each match. Each team plays a home and an away match with result points awarded for each leg (3 points for 3–0 or 3–1 wins, 2 points for 3–2 win, 1 point for 2–3 loss). Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team.
