Clubul Sportiv Gaz Metan Mediaș (), commonly known as Gaz Metan Mediaș or simply as Gaz Metan, was a Romanian professional Association football, football Club (organization), club based in Mediaș, Sibiu County. Founded in 1945 as ''Karres Mediaș'', the team spent most of its existence in the Liga II, second division. It also participated in 16 seasons of the Liga I, the highest level of the Romanian football league system, Romanian league system, and lost a Cupa României final to FC Steaua București, CCA București in 1951 Cupa României, 1951. Gaz Metan registered its debut in UEFA, European competitions in the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League, 2011–12 campaign, when it defeated Kuopion Palloseura, KuPS and 1. Ovidiu Ștefan Hoban (born 27 December 1982) is a Romanian professional football manager and former player, who played as a defensive midfielder, currently assistant coach at Liga I club CFR Cluj. International career Hoban made his international debut against Trinidad & Tobago, playing the second half of a friendly game on 4 June 2013. He scored his first international goal during the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying against Finland in an eventual 1–1 draw. The Liga 2, most commonly spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 football season. It is currently sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company under the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Since its inception in 1934, Liga II has had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. Ștefan Dobay
Ștefan Dobay (, 26 September 1909 – 7 April 1994), was a Romanian footballer who played as a striker and manager. He mostly played for Ripensia Timișoara and the Romania national football team for whom he got 41 caps, scored 19 goals and he appeared at the 1934 and 1938 World Cups as a forward, scoring goals in each tournament. Club career Dobay, nicknamed "Calul" (The Horse) was born on 26 September 1909 in Újszentes, Austria-Hungary (today Dumbrăvița, Romania). In 1916, he lost his father on the battlefields of World War I.
