CKOI (network)
CKOI was a network of French-language adult top 40 outlets broadcasting throughout the province of Quebec. Created by Corus Québec on November 6, 2009, the network and its stations are currently owned and operated by Cogeco. The name of the network is derived from the call sign of its flagship station in Montreal, CKOI-FM. The name "CKOI" is pronounced like a word—it is a homonym of "C'est quoi ?", French for "What is it?". Stations All five stations used on-air branding CKOI despite their different call letters. CKOF-FM
CKOF-FM (104.7 MHz) is a French-language commercial radio station in Gatineau, Quebec, serving the National Capital Region including Ottawa. Owned and operated by Cogeco, it broadcasts a talk radio format, calling itself "104,7 FM". Some programming is shared with sister station CKOI-FM Montreal. The radio studios and offices are in the Chemin des Terres neighbourhood of Gatineau. CKOF-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 31,000 watts, with a maximum of 100,000 watts. The transmitter is located in Camp Fortune, near Gatineau Park. History The station originally began broadcasting in 1968 on the AM band. It was CJRC, on 1150 kHz with a daytime power of 50,000 watts and a nighttime power of 5,000 watts as a class B station. Rouge FM
Rouge FM is a network of French-language adult contemporary radio stations broadcasting throughout Quebec, Canada. Established in 1990 as RockDétente, they are owned by Bell Media. All "Rouge FM" stations broadcast in the same markets as Bell's mainstream rock network, Énergie, although Énergie also has a few stations in markets not served by "Rouge FM". Although the stations concentrate on French adult contemporary music, it would mix in English music as well, much like Cogeco's "Rythme FM" network, which has fewer stations than "Rouge FM". The flagship radio station is Montreal's CITE-FM. The Astral jingles on this network are different from the adult hits jingles used by Astral's English-language adult contemporary stations, nut the network uses a very relaxing acoustic tune. Montmagny () is a city in the Montmagny Regional County Municipality within the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec. It is the county seat and had a population, as of the Canada 2011 Census, of 11,491. The city is on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River, east of Quebec City, and was founded more than 350 years ago. CJTS-FM was a French-language Canadian radio station located in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Owned and operated by Cogeco, it broadcast on 104.5 MHz using a directional antenna with an average effective radiated power of 9,200 watts and a peak effective radiated power of 50,000 watts ( class C1). The station's transmitter was located at Mount Bellevue. History The station was licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission in 2003, and went on the air on May 31, 2004. It was originally owned by local broadcaster Groupe Génération Rock, and had the call sign CIGR-FM. On June 18, 2007, CIGR's owners announced a tentative deal to sell the station to Corus Entertainment. Astral Media
Astral Media Inc. was a Canadian media conglomerate. It was Canada's largest radio broadcaster, with 84 radio stations in eight provinces. Astral was also a major player in premium and specialty television in Canada, with 23 specialty channels and two conventional stations. In addition, Astral had a presence in out-of-home advertising. In March 2012, Bell Media announced its intent to acquire Astral for $3.38 billion. Although an attempt to purchase the entirety of the company was blocked under competition law, the CRTC approved a revised offer on June 27, 2013, which saw various Astral specialty channels and radio stations divested to competitors. Énergie is a Canadian radio network of French-language mainstream rock outlets broadcasting throughout the province of Quebec and portions of eastern Ontario, in Eastern Canada. They offer a personality-driven mix of francophone and anglophone classic rock and alternative rock songs, catering to a young adult audience. Although the flagship station is CKMF-FM Montreal, the 10 stations in the network usually have their own talent and format for each of their own markets. They are owned by Bell Media. CIKI-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Rimouski, Quebec. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it broadcasts on 98.7 MHz using a directional antenna with an average effective radiated power of 41,300 watts and a peak effective radiated power of 100,000 watts ( class C). Drummondville is a city in the Centre-du-Québec region of Quebec, located east of Montreal on the Saint-François River. The population as of the Canada 2021 Census was 79,258.
