CKGE-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 94.9 FM from Oshawa, Ontario. The station broadcasts an active rock format under the brand name ''94.9 The Rock''. History The station was launched in 1957 by Lakeland Broadcasting as CKLB-FM 93.5, a sister station to AM outlet CKLB. The station aired an easy listening format. In 1966, the station changed its callsign to CKQS-FM, and moved to its current frequency later the same year. In 1979, CKLB and CKQS were acquired by Grant Broadcasting, and CKQS changed callsigns again, this time to CKQT-FM. Grant Broadcasting was subsequently acquired by Power Broadcasting in 1990. Christian Tanna
Christian Tanna is a Canadian drummer and music event organizer based in Peterborough, Ontario. He is best known for being a co-founding member and drummer for the band I Mother Earth. Early life Tanna was born Christian Koshowski in Hamilton, Ontario. His family moved to Peterborough when he was in elementary school. Tanna began playing drums in high school. Career Tanna, along with his brother, Jagori Tanna, and vocalist Edwin, formed I Mother Earth in 1990. Tanna played on 1993's '' Dig''; in 1994 the band won a Juno Award for Best Rock Album. The company owns twelve radio stations and their associated repeaters, which are primarily located in the Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario. In 2021, Durham Radio received CRTC approval to acquire Vancouver's CIRH-FM, marking its first station outside of Ontario. CKDO (1580 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, serving the eastern suburbs of the Greater Toronto Area. The station airs a classic hits–oldies format and is owned by Durham Radio Inc. CKDO is one of only two radio stations in Canada that broadcast on 1580 kHz.
