CFLG-FM (104.5 MHz) is a Canadian radio station in Cornwall, Ontario. The station airs a hot adult contemporary format branded as ''104.5 Fresh Radio''. History The station was launched in 1957 by the city's daily newspaper, the ''Cornwall Standard Freeholder'', with the call sign CKSF-FM. The newspaper also already owned AM sister station CKSF. Two years later, the stations were acquired by Stanley Shankman, the owner of CJSS-TV, and both changed their callsigns to CJSS as well. Two years later, Shenkman sold his broadcast holdings. The TV station was sold to Ottawa's CJOH-TV, and the radio stations were sold to the local Émard family. The radio stations were subsequently acquired by Tri Co Broadcasting in 1978, and the station adopted its current callsign. CFLG originally aired a beautiful music format which has since been updated to the current AC sound. They are now owned by Corus Entertainment, who acquired CFLG, along with CJSS, in 2001. CJSS-FM (101.9 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Cornwall, Ontario. The station broadcasts a classic hits format branded as '' Boom 101.9''. CJSS is owned by Corus Entertainment, which acquired the station, along with CFLG-FM, in 2001. CJSS-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 3,000 watts. The transmitter is on McConnell Avenue, near the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway (Ontario Highway 401). History In 1945, the station signed on the air as CKSF. CJUL was an English-language Canadian radio station located in Cornwall, Ontario. Owned and operated by Corus Entertainment, it broadcast on 1220 kHz with power of 1,000 watts as a class C station, using an omnidirectional antenna. The station was on the air from 1945 to 2010. History The AM radio station in Cornwall originally signed on as CKSF at 1230 kHz in 1945, launched by the Cornwall Standard Freeholder. CKSF later moved to 1220 kHz in the 1950s. It was later converted to CJSS, which converted to the 101.9 FM in 1999. Subsequently, rather than go dark, the AM 1220 frequency became home to CJUL, which flipped to an adult standards format under the name "The Jewel". CJSS-TV
CJSS-TV (channel 8) was a television station in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. In operation from 1959 to 1963 as a private affiliate of CBC Television, the station was later converted to a rebroadcaster of Ottawa's CJOH-TV. The station originally signed on as a CBC Television affiliate on October 18, 1959, owned by Toronto architect Stanley Shenkman. Shenkman also acquired the radio stations CKSF and CKSF-FM, which both adopted the CJSS call sign as well. In 1963, CJSS was acquired by Ernie Bushnell and converted into a rebroadcaster of Ottawa's CTV affiliate CJOH, making CJSS the first TV station in Canada ever to cease operations as its own station and become a repeater for another.
