Closed Ecological System
Closed ecological systems or contained ecological systems (CES) are ecosystems that do not rely on matter exchange with any part outside the system. The term is most often used to describe small, man-made ecosystems. Such systems can potentially serve as a life-support system or space habitats. In a closed ecological system, any waste products produced by one species must be used by at least one other species. If the purpose is to maintain a life form, such as a mouse or a human, waste products such as carbon dioxide, feces, and urine must eventually be converted into oxygen, food, and water. A closed ecological system must contain at least one autotrophic organism. While both chemotrophic and phototrophic organisms are plausible, almost all closed ecological systems to date are based on an autotroph such as green algae. Examples A closed ecological system for an entire planet is called an ecosphere. Man-made closed ecological systems which were created to sustain human ... Central South Station
Central South () was a planned MTR station on the Sha Tin to Central Link. If it was constructed, the station would have served as the southern terminus of the North South Corridor. In the 2012 and 2013 MTR annual reports, Central South station was marked on the Future Stations and Network Map. History When KCRC submitted its first proposal on the new line, the station was named Central West, and had a site to the west of the one in the current proposal. In 2004, KCRC submitted a new proposal, which pointed out that there are technical problems on the original planned location of the station, due to the soft soil found there. The proposal suggested an option of placing the station somewhere south of Upper Albert Road. In 2008, the Government announced that it was considering the proposal that MTR The Mass Transit Railway system, known locally by the initialism MTR, is a rapid transit system in Hong Kong and the territory's principal mode of Rail transport in Hong Ko ... Center For Election Science
The Center for Election Science is an American 501(c)(3) organization that focuses on voter education and promoting election science. The organization promotes cardinal voting methods such as approval and score voting. They have their early roots in effective altruism. The Center for Election Science helped pass approval voting in the city of Fargo, North Dakota, during the 2018 elections alongside Reform Fargo. In St. Louis, Missouri, the organization passed an approval voting law in 2020 with the help of St. Louis Approves. Organizational opinions The Center argues that approval voting is superior to other proposed electoral reforms for multiple reasons, including accuracy, simplicity, and tractability. They say approval voting will elect more consensus winners, which it contends traditional runoffs and instant-runoff ranked methods don't allow, because they eliminate candidates with low first-preference support but broad support in general. They further argue that th ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Confédération Européenne De Scoutisme
The Confederation of European Scouts, called in French language, French and abbreviated as CES, was formed in Brussels, Belgium, on 12 November 1978 and is still based in Belgium. CES stresses the European dimension of the Scouting programme and claims to provide the "authentic Scouting of Baden-Powell". The CES is a confederation of national federations. The CES is a split-off from the Fédération du Scoutisme Européen (FSE) later renamed to the Union Internationale des Guides et Scouts d'Europe; it left after controversies about the importance of religious elements in the single associations' programs and co-education. The exact number of members of the CES is unknown. Member organizations CES has national federations in: * Scouting and Guiding in Belgium, Belgium - Europe et Scoutisme - 10 groups (3 Sea Scout groups) * Scouting and Guiding in Germany, Germany - Bund Europäischer Pfadfinder (BEP, founded 1952) - 3 groups * Scouting and Guiding in Italy, Italy - Federazione ... Commonwealth Employment Service
The Commonwealth Employment Service (CES) was an Australian Government employment agency that was established in 1946 with the introduction of the ''Re-establishment and Employment Act 1945'' under the Curtin ALP government. It was designed to identify labour shortages, and solve them through supplying labour. It also conducted a "work test" of welfare recipients, to prove their willingness (and ability) to work. Returned soldiers whose disabilities caused them difficulty finding employment were further assisted by the federal government's Vocational Training Scheme for Invalid Pensioners (which had started in 1941). In 1948, this became the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Service (CRS). Over time the CRS came to help disabled Australians from any background to enter employment. The CES continued to exist under the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations according to the provisions of the ''Commonwealth Employment Service Act 1978''. In 1987 the department became Depart ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Community Exchange System
The Community Exchange System (CES) is an internet-based global trading network which allows participants to buy and sell goods and services without using a Fiat money, national currency. It may be described as a type of local exchange trading system (LETS) network based on free software. While it can be used as an alternative to traditional currencies such as the Australian dollar or euro or South African rand, the ''Community Exchange System'' is a complementary currency in the sense that it functions alongside established currencies. The CES name was coined by an online web service which started in 2003 in Cape Town, South Africa, as the Cape Town Talent Exchange (CTTE). From there it spread to 99 countries, with the biggest take-up in Australia, where CES Australia was founded in 2011. This original CES takes the idea of LETS and similar systems a step further by providing the means for inter-community trading; it is a global network of communities using non-monetary exchange ... Church Educational System
The Church Educational System (CES) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) consists of several institutions that provide religious and secular education for both Latter-day Saint and non–Latter-day Saint elementary, secondary, and post-secondary students and adult learners. Approximately 700,000 individuals were enrolled in CES programs in 143 countries in 2011. CES courses of study are separate and distinct from religious instruction provided through wards (local congregations). Clark G. Gilbert, a general authority seventy, has been the CES commissioner since August 1, 2021. Background The University of Deseret was established in 1850 to supervise other public schools in the territory. Public taxation instituted in 1851 supported these schools, which were organized by LDS Church wards, with their teacher employed by the local bishop. These early public schools often used church meetinghouses as their schoolroom. While Utah's colonization was st ...
