A CEGEP ( or ; , ; also written CÉGEP and cegep) is a publicly funded college providing general, professional, academic or a mix of programs; they are exclusive to the province of Quebec's education system. A loanword from French, it originates from the French acronym for , sometimes known in English as a "General and Professional College"—it is now considered a word in itself. Cégep De L'Outaouais
Cégep de l'Outaouais (formerly known as ''Collège de l'Outaouais'') is a Canadian college. It is the biggest public college (CEGEP) in the Outaouais region and is located in the city of Gatineau, Quebec. In 2002, about 75% of the region's high school graduates had been admitted to the institution. As of 2012 there were over 5,000 students attending the college. 2017 saw similar student numbers; that year also saw the 70,000th student graduate from the college. Parent Commission
The Royal Commission of Inquiry on Education in the Province of Quebec, better known as the Parent Commission, was a commission established in 1961 by the newly elected Lesage government to investigate the education system in Quebec up until the 1960s. It was chaired by Mgr Alphonse-Marie Parent, and consisted of 8 members. The Cégep de Chicoutimi is a post-secondary institution in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is located in the Chicoutimi borough of the Saguenay, Quebec, City of Saguenay. It is one of four CEGEPs in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. The Cégep de Chicoutimi has approximately 3,000 students and 600 employees. Collège Ahuntsic is a French-language public college situated in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was founded in 1967 as a merger of the Collège Saint-Ignace and the Institut de technologies Laval, and in 1970 the Institut des arts graphiques du Quebec joined the college. History Founded in 1967, when the Quebec system of CEGEPs was created, it is today one of the largest CÉGEPs in Quebec.
