Albert Street is a street in the Brisbane central business district, Queensland, Australia. It was named after Prince Albert, the Prince Consort of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. Albert Street railway station is being built directly beneath the street and will open as part of the Cross River Rail prorject. The station precinct includes partial road closures as planned in the 2014 City Centre Master Plan, for the creation of a new public space. Geography The street forms a key city axis. The southern part of Albert Street is low-lying and prone to flooding; it was part of the historic Frog's Hollow district. Ann Street runs parallel to Adelaide Street and is the northernmost street in the Brisbane CBD in Queensland, Australia. Brisbane Festival Hall
Brisbane Festival Hall was an indoor arena located on the southern corner of Albert Street and Charlotte Street, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It operated from 1910 to 2003, before being demolished to make the Oak Festival Towers apartment building and hotel. History The Festival Hall was originally known as Brisbane Stadium, which was built in 1910. Perry House is a heritage-listed office building at 167 Albert Street (corner of Elizabeth Street), Brisbane City, Queensland, Australia. King George Square Busway Station
King George Square busway station is located in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia serving the Brisbane central business district. It is located beneath King George Square and marks the start of the Northern Busway, Brisbane, Northern Busway. Queen Street bus station is the primary bus terminus in Brisbane central business district in Queensland, Australia. It is underneath Uptown, Brisbane (formerly the Myer Centre) & Queen Street Mall. It opened on 26 March 1988 along with the Myer Centre. At the time it was the largest underground diesel bus station in the world. Queen Street bus station serves as the terminus of many routes servicing the South East Busway, Southern and Eastern Suburbs and the Centenary / Indooroopilly / Kenmore corridor. It is served by 35 routes all operated by Transport for Brisbane. No Northern Busway services directly connect King George Square busway station with the Queen Street busway station. The Queen Street Mall is a pedestrian mall located on Queen Street in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The mall extends approximately from George Street to Edward Street, and has more than 700 retailers over of retail space, which includes six major shopping centres. It was intended to bring more people into the central business district. The mall was designed by Robin Gibson and opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1982. It has been refurbished and extended a number of times. In 2013 it was the site of a siege that saw the mall go into a lockdown. Brisbane City Hall
Brisbane City Hall, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, is the seat of the Brisbane City Council. It is located adjacent to King George Square, where the rectangular City Hall has its main entrance. The City Hall also has frontages and entrances in both Ann Street and Adelaide Street. The building design is based on a combination of the Roman Pantheon, and St Mark's Campanile in Venice and is considered one of Brisbane's finest buildings.
