Brookville Police Department (Ohio)
Brookville is a village located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 3,465 at the time of the 2010 census. History The geographic Village of Brookville was formed in two stages. When the village was incorporated in 1931, it consisted of a long, narrow tract of land that was centered along Cedar Swamp Road ( Route 107). In the 1950s, the northern portion of the unincorporated area then known as Wheatley Hills was annexed and incorporated into the village, approximately doubling the village's area to its present . When the town of Oyster Bay purchased what is now Brookville from the Matinecocks in the mid-17th century, the area was known as Suco's Wigwam. Most pioneers were English, many of them Quakers. Interlaken is a village in Seneca County, New York, United States. The population was 602 at the 2010 census. The name is related to the village's position between two lakes. The Village of Interlaken is in the northern part of the Town of Covert and is northwest of Ithaca, New York. History First settled in the late 1790s and early 1800s, the Village of Interlaken was home to many families from the New England and New Jersey areas. Matinecock (tribe)
Metoac is an erroneous term used by some to group together the Munsee-speaking Lenape (west), Quiripi-speaking Unquachog (center) and Pequot-speaking Montaukett (east) American Indians on what is now Long Island in New York state. The term was invented by amateur anthropologist and U.S. Congressman Silas Wood in the mistaken belief that the various native settlements on the island each comprised distinct tribes. Instead, Indian peoples on Long Island are descended from two major language and cultural groups of the many Algonquian peoples who occupied Atlantic coastal areas from present-day Canada through the American South. The bands on Long Island in the west were related to the Lenape. New York State Route 107
New York State Route 107 (NY 107) is a state highway in Nassau County, New York, in the United States. The route begins at an intersection with Merrick Road ( unsigned County Route 27 or CR 27; formerly NY 27A) in Massapequa, serving several communities in the town of Oyster Bay before entering the city of Glen Cove and terminating at an intersection with Pulaski Street. From here, the right-of-way continues west for a short distance as Pratt Boulevard ( CR 243) to Brewster Street and Glen Cove Avenue. Route 107 is the only State Highway on Long Island to enter a city other than New York City.
