Brent Fedyk
Brent Anthony Fedyk (born March 8, 1967) is a Canadians, Canadian former professional ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), right winger. He was drafted in the first round, 8th overall, by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Fedyk played five seasons of junior hockey in the Western Hockey League. He made his professional debut with the Red Wings' American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Red Wings, in the 1987–88 AHL season, 1987–88 season. He also appeared in two National Hockey League, NHL games with Detroit 1987–88 NHL season, that same season. After splitting three seasons between Detroit and Adirondack, and then spending two seasons in the NHL full-time, Fedyk joined the Philadelphia Flyers for the 1992–93 NHL season, 1992–93 season. Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners.
