Breedlove House And Water Tower
The Breedlove House and Water Tower are a historic residential property on the south side Benton County Route 4 east of Bentonville, Arkansas, about east of its junction with Arkansas Highway 72. The two-story house is a c. 1887 brick structure that was enlarged and restyled c. 1907, giving it a mix of original Italianate and Eastlake detailing, and a front Colonial Revival two-story porch. The property includes a square brick tower, built c. 1920 as a water supply for an apple orchard. The tower is the only structure surviving in the county from the period known to be associated with the then-significant apple industry. Hancock County is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 6,662, making it the fourth-least populous county in Tennessee. Its county seat is Sneedville. History Hancock County was created from parts of Hawkins and Claiborne counties. The Melungeon DNA Project is a genetic study started in 2005 by the private company Family Tree DNA of people with identified Melungeon ancestors (according to historic records), mostly residing in Hancock County, Tennessee and people with ancestors identified as Carmel Indians who lived in nearby areas of Kentucky. The Melungeon people are a mixed-race group who married within the group up until about 1900. There was speculation about their identity and ancestry for decades, and many differing accounts of their origins. This study was started in 2005. Researchers published an article in 2012 summarizing their results. The female ancestors were shown to have had European DNA, while male ancestors had DNA from African or European haplogroups. The Mims-Breedlove-Priest-Weatherton House is a historic house at 2108 Beechwood Avenue in the Country Club Heights neighborhood of Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a -story wood-frame structure, finished in the Craftsman style. It has a side-gable roof with a shed-roof dormer, extending over its front porch, which is supported by square cypress box columns. Elements of the house framing are timbers salvaged from the demolition of the Gus Blass dry goods store. It was built about 1910 by H.T. Mims, supposedly as a wedding present for one of his twin daughters. (A nearly identical house, clad in vinyl siding, stands next door.) Houses of this sort were once typical in the neighborhood, which has seen many torn down and replaced with larger, more modern residences.
