Originally, two farm breweries were bought on the downtown street Große Arche in the years 1822 and 1827 by Volkmar Döppleb . These were middle-class houses with agricultural land ownership right to brew beer . The consolidated brewery later went to a Baumann family, which also bought the brewery Schedel in 1848. Erfurt () is the capital and largest city in the Central German state of Thuringia.
