Branting II Cabinet
The second cabinet of Hjalmar Branting ( sv, Regeringen Branting II) was the cabinet of Sweden between 13 October 1921 and 19 April 1923. In the general election, 1921 the Swedish Social Democratic Party got 36,2% of the votes and Hjalmar Branting got the majority to form a government. The discussions in the beginning of the 1920s concerning the trade of alcohol, had forced all of the parties to take position. In 1920 the congress of the Social Democratic Party declared that The Riksdag shouldn't accept a ban of alcohol if not the referendum gave two-thirds majority for a ban. The government ordered a prohibition referendum, that ended with a meagre majority for the opposition. In 1922, the Riksdag had decided that employees in a labour market conflict shouldn't get unemployment support. Minister For Defence (Sweden)
The Minister for Defence of Sweden ( sv, försvarsminister; formal title: sv, statsråd och chef för försvarsdepartementet) is a member of the Government of Sweden ( sv, Regeringen). The Minister heads the Ministry for Defence and is appointed and dismissed at the sole discretion of the prime minister of Sweden. Olof Olsson (1872-1939)
Olof Olsson (31 March 1841 – 12 May 1900) was a prominent Swedish-American Lutheran clergyman who served in several churches in the American Midwest. He was also the third president of Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, serving from 1891 to 1899. Biography Sweden Olof Olsson was born in Karlskoga, Värmland, Sweden. He was the son of Olof and Britta Olsson. Olsson attended the Fjellstedt School in Stockholm. He was educated at the universities of Stockholm and Uppsala, and was graduated at the latter in 1861, after spending a year (1859–1860) in the Missionary Institute at Leipzig. He also studied in the theological department of the University of Uppsala, where he graduated in 1863. Fredrik Vilhelm Thorsson
Fredrik Vilhelm Thorsson (30 May 18655 May 1925) was a Swedish politician and shoemaker. He was Minister for Finance during three separate periods (1918–1920, 1921–1923, and 1924–1925), and Minister of Commerce and Industry in 1920. Biography Fredrik Vilhelm Thorsson came from humble working conditions. He was the son of shoemaker Nils Thorsson Viktor and Amalia Charlotta Pihlström. At the age of nine, he became an orphan, and was looked after by the parish officers and sold at child auction, where they offered children at sale. That he would follow in his father's footsteps and be trained to cobbler was obvious; his journeyman he undertook, inter alia, in Copenhagen when he received a journeyman's certificate in Ystad. Anders Örne
Anders Örne (1881–1956) was a Swedish politician who served as the minister of communications (transport) between 1921 and 1923. He also headed the Cooperative Society and Post Office Administration. In addition, he was a member of the Social Democratic Party. Biography Örne was born in 1881. He received a bachelor's degree from Uppsala University. As of 1911 he was the editor of ''Kooperatören'', a magazine published by the Swedish Cooperative Society. Later Örne became the secretary general of the Swedish Cooperative Society, and in 1918 he translated a document of the weavers cooperative in Rochdale which was the first cooperative to lay the foundations of these organizations in Sweden. The document included a number of principles of operating cooperatives, and Örne employed the seventh principle as the basis of the organization of the Swedish cooperatives with some adaptations.
