South Khorasan Province
South Khorasan Province ( fa, استان خراسان جنوبی ''Ostān-e Khorāsān-e Jonūbī'') is a province located in eastern Iran. Birjand is the centre of the province. The other major cities are Ferdows, Tabas and Qaen. In 2014, it was placed in Region 5. This new province, is but the old Quhistan which was included into greater Khorasan in the Iranian administrative planning. However, historically Qohistan forms a separate entity, with a distinct culture, history, environment and ecology. South Khorasan is one of the three provinces that were created after the division of Khorasan in 2004. Boshruyeh
Boshruyeh ( fa, بشرويه - "''Bosh''-Growing", also Romanized as Boshrūyeh) is a city in, and the capital of, Boshruyeh County, in western South Khorasan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 13,778, in 3,638 families. Boshruyeh is located between the cities of Ferdows and Tabas at the border of the Dasht-e Kavir. Near this city, there are old villages named Aresk, Raqqeh, Korond, Neigenan and Ghaniabad. The geographic coordinates of Boshruyeh are 33°52' N and 57°25' E. Iran Standard Time (IRST) or Iran Time (IT) is the time zone used in Iran. Iran uses a UTC offset UTC+03:30. IRST is defined by the 52.5 degrees east meridian, the same meridian which defines the Iranian calendar and is the official meridian of Iran. Between 2005 and 2008, by decree of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran did not observe daylight saving time (DST) (called ''Iran Daylight Time'' or ''IRDT''). It was reintroduced from 21 March 2008. On 21 September 2022, Iran abolished DST and now observes standard time year-round. Ferdows County ( fa, شهرستان فردوس) is located in South Khorasan province, Iran. The capital of the county is Ferdows. At the 2006 census, the county's population (including those portions of the county later split off to form Boshruyeh County) was 61,346, in 17,539 households.
